I’d love to give this place more stars, first off there were some lovely dishes - the tomato and watermelon soup, the mushroom croquettes were the highlights.
The meal was marred somewhat by the overkeen and clumsy service, please don’t take away plates just as we’ve finished one and still eating others - it gives us the impression you’re trying to rush us through the meal. Telling us the croquettes were homemade was also bizarre, we weren’t expecting you’d bought them from the (admittedly excellent) supermarket down the road.
The big let downs were the pickled quail - tasty enough but taste was drenched out by them sitting on a huge soggy salad.
And the other let down was the paella.
It was bland, over seasoned. The waitress asked how it was and I just said too salty before it was whisked away. It took 5 excruciating minutes of negotiation to get it back. With a few mouthfuls we knew another one would be just as bad (albeit less salty). We were given the option to wait 15 mins for another one but by this time had given up hope and just wanted to leave.
We did come in with reasonably high expectations given other reviews. Sadly, our reality was a...
Read moreI don’t often write reviews, but this time is very special.. We came for a wine tasting in D’Agon wine yard, had one hour to kill before the tasing and were recommended to go for a lunch in La Jovita. We were greeted by asian looking lady who brought us a menu. We were the only clients. When we asked if it is possible to have something light such as a salad or a soup as we have only one hour before the wine tasting she said it’s a fine dining place and not a fast food spot basically directing us towards the exit so commending fast food places around. The most unpleasant experience ever. Can’t say we look homeless or don’t appreciate fine dining spots- quite the opposite, but we definitely appreciate professionalism and politeness. This lady was extremely rude. We drove 2 minutes and found another place- Samal restaurant where we were met by the chef and a waiter- both were just great, friendly and helpful- we ordered soups and crockets, had coffee and went for a wine tasting being in time. So we wouldn’t recommend La Jovita to anyone. On top of all the place was stinking like they just...
Read moreHidden away like a well-kept secret, this local Catalan seafood gem is nothing short of spectacular. I've had the pleasure of dining here twice, and both times, I've been thoroughly impressed. The "fish of the day" never disappoints, cooked to perfection and bursting with fresh flavors of the sea. The pulpo is tender, seasoned just right, and the tomato - oh, it's absolutely to die for!
But it isn’t just the food that stands out. The service here is impeccable, with the staff making you feel like family from the moment you step in. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth elevate the dining experience to an entirely different level.
What made my last visit extra special was introducing some local friends to this place. Now, they jestingly consider me deeply entrenched in Catalunya, all because I unveiled this culinary jewel to them. If you're seeking authentic Catalan seafood in an intimate setting, look no further. Just ensure you have a local guide or a good map – its hidden location is part...
