Restaurante Alpujarreño e Hindú El Jardín de los Sabores — Restaurant in Capileira

We arrived in Capileira on Monday, and based on reviews and the promise of Indian food we decided to eat here for dinner. First I will describe the positive - the garden setting for dining is really nice, with fish pond, trees and other vegetation that create a very nice ambience. The service was quite good, especially the waitress who greeted and seated us. We didn't have a reservation but were more than happy with the small table near the bar she gave us. We ordered from the Indian food selection, and would say the food was good but not great. The samosas were good, but the filling was cold, which makes me think they are prepared ahead and frozen, then quick fried. The chicken curry was tasty but not spicy enough, but the waiter brought an excellent hot chilli sauce when asked, which solved that issue. NOW we get to the bad part. We had just been served our main dishes when a scruffy looking street musician (who appeared drunk) started playing really loud accordian music less than 3 meters from our table, and the music was really bad. He kept playing for at least half an hour, during which time we couldn't even talk to each other because of the noise, then when he finally finished he went around tables soliciting money. This is not appropriate for a "fine dining" restaurant and completely ruined what should have been a nice evening, and please note that this is an EXPENSIVE restaurant, so I feel like I wasted both an...

Es nuestra primera visita (no será la última porque el restaurante lo merece) y hemos salido con un sabor agridulce. No sabía si puntuar con cuatro estrellas (por ubicación y cocina) o con dos (por el servicio), así que he optado por tres que, sin lugar a dudas, cambiaré a cuatro o cinco tras mi próxima visita. Está situado en un lugar privilegiado y dispone de un jardín-terraza precioso, muy bien cuidado y con unas vistas excelentes. Asimismo, dispone de un comedor, que muy amablemente nos han enseñado cuando nos íbamos, muy acogedor para el invierno con chimenea y una zona acristalada con vistas. Hemos disfrutado de platos típicos andaluces y otros de la cocina hindú muy bien elaborados y perfectamente emplatados. Muy buenos, así como las tartas caseras y hasta el café, muy bien preparado. La relación calidad/precio es excelente y se intuyen cocineros muy profesionales. Disponen también de barbacoa en la que estaban preparando unas carnes con muy buen aspecto. El pero, y lo expongo porque pienso que tiene solución, ha sido en el servicio. Aunque nos han atendido nada más llegar, desde que hemos finalizado los primeros hasta que han llegado los segundos (sin ser platos de excesiva elaboración) han transcurrido 50 minutos, tiempo a todas luces excesivo. Hemos tenido que reclamarlos y una vez reclamados han tardado unos diez minutos. Creo que se puede haber traspapelado la comanda. Por otra parte, cuando hemos llegado al jardín, había unas cinco o seis mesas libres y nos hemos sentado en una de ellas. Nos han preguntado por la bebida, nos la han traído muy rápido, luego nos han traído una tapita del lugar y a los cinco minutos nos han preguntado si teníamos reserva y hemos dicho que no. Entonces nos han "regañado" (a cierta edad las regañinas te incomodan un poco) por sentarnos sin tener reserva. Le hemos dicho que por qué no habían puesto un letrerito indicando que la mesa estaba reservada. El camarero nos ha respondido que si tenía platos y cubiertos quiere decir que estaba reservada. No sé de dónde ha sacado esa regla, pero no he querido discutir. Aunque la reprimenda ha sido con total educación (diciéndonos que no lo repitamos en el futuro...) y aunque no ha sido en voz alta, tampoco lo ha sido en susurro, dando lugar a que los comensales de las tres o cuatro mesas aledañas giren la cabeza para interesarse por el incidente. Nos hemos sentido algo incómodos. Creo que esta situación se podría haber evitado con el letrerito de "reservada" o si nos hubieran interceptado al entrar. Third time here over the past few years. The location is beautiful. It's quite a drive from Granada city or the Costa Tropical but the drive itself is a gorgeous twisting, winding and picturesque experience. I would highly recommend making the effort to visit the Restaurante Alpujarreño if you find yourself in this village. The welcome was a friendly one. The service, even though it wasn't at all busy, was it has to be said,a little bit tardy. Although you must account for a bit of that time towards preparing what was absolutely delicious food. The portion sizes are generous. The naan was particularly delicious. Freshly cooked and hand made too. All in all a wonderful lunch in a beautiful spot. See...
