Chiringuito Mångata — Restaurant in Cartagena

What an amazing Chiringuito and I struggle to get my head around how they cook such great food in a small kitchen in what is essentially a shack on the beach and an extremely busy Chiringuito too! Probably one of the freshest tasting tomato salads I have ever eaten with such a depth of flavour (never thought I would be saying this about a humble salad), followed by just superb octopus that was cooked to perfection and rivalled any Michelin starred restaurant I've eaten at. The octopus was served on the smoothest potato puree I've had. And then sardines grilled and seasoned to perfection. Cannot fault this place and I have to keep reminding myself of what it is and where it is located. And incredible value too - lunch for two with two courses, a couple of beers and a coffee each all for 50 Euros! Incredible value. The food at this place really does rival many of the high-end restaurants I've been fortunate...

Based on the overall good reviews, we decided to go here for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Although there were not too many people, the waiters took their time to check on us. When they did and when we asked for the menu, the brought it with the notice "kitchen closed". So, why do you bring the menu of you cannot cook anything? We agreed on having some tapas, and they were just about average. Olives, marinara, potato chips with a funny greasy sauce, they had nothing more to offer and thus, we were indeed disappointed. The white wine tasted like 1€/1ltr from the Lidl and did also not convince us. At the end, we have been expecting more, maybe it was just a bad day, but based on this, we will definitely...

This is a 5 star chiringuito with amazing service and really good food. Worth every penny. The only issue is that it gets very crowded in the summer and very hard to find a table, but that is life in La Manga July/August. I had the Chopitos with the black sauce that was absolutely delicious. Very quality made and you can tell they take pride in their food.

This make Pepino’s Beach Chiringuito look like a soup kitchen. Night and day from those losers.

This is an example of a Chiringuito that actually cares about the food and service they provide. Do yourself a favor and walk down here if you are at Zona Entremares. Stay far away...
