Bar el Castillo — Restaurant in Casares

Our dinner at Bar El Castillo was the best dinner experience we had in Spain. The beautiful scenic drive up to Casares, walking through this incredible town and the views of the white homes coming out of the mountains was a great start to the evening. We were so warmly welcomed when we reached the restaurant. Tables nestled into the garden with lime and walnut trees and twinkling lights draped overhead is simple but feels magical. We tried beef entrecôte, pork cheeks, acorn fed pork and a chicken sandwich. Every dish was prepared with care to be simple and allow the high quality ingredients to shine. We live about 35 minutes away from Casares so it's become one of our go to places to visit when people come over to stay. We usually come on a Monday so never seen it open, but very glad we came a different day this time. What a great restaurant bar this is. Well worth the walk up to the castle. The food is excellent and the service and staff are the same. The beer/wine/water etc is cold, what more could one ask for. We will certainly check to see if it's an open day here when we next have guests. Thank you...

We climbed the ruins of Casares and found Bar El Castilo on our descent so decided to stop for a cold beer. Lovely little place, we noticed the table next to us had food so we enquired what they thought and they said it was really nice, especially the home made burger.
