There’s bad service and then there’s bad service mixed with prejudice. Sadly, that’s what my fiancée and I experienced at Sarmiento, and on our birthday dinner, no less.

Even with a confirmed booking, we were ignored by several waiters just standing around. No greeting, no offer to help us find our table, no menus - nada - this is despite mentioning to them that this was a special evening for us. We eventually got sat at an unprepared table near the bar (no tablecloth, no cutlery) and still had to ask for basic things.

What really broke us was seeing how warmly other guests of different ethnicity were being served while we were treated as if we didn’t exist. It was hurtful, humiliating, and honestly shocking in this day and age.

We left without eating. It’s sad that in 2025, people still have to experience this kind of behaviour based on skin colour or background.

If you’re considering dining here, please be aware of how inconsistent and discriminatory the service can be. If I could give minus rating, I would.

On a brighter note we went next door to Mi Cortijo, and the difference was night and day! Welcoming smiles, amazing service, and delicious food. They turned our evening around completely. Highly...

We are very regular guests at Sarmiento and have always really rated this place. Unfortunately, our experience on Sunday, 13th April was really not OK, and this is the second time we walked away feeling disappointed after an earlier visit in February. Our experience this time was soured by the following: Starters all arrived at different times. We had to wait incredibly long after for our main courses to be served. Clearing plates took nearly an hour. Waiting staff nowhere to be seen - very inattentive service. Wine service not included, we ended up pouring our own bottles of wine. It’s looks like our table didn’t exist?! Excuse given that the restaurant was very busy and running at full capacity. Regardless, standards shouldn't slip and if you can't handle a full restaurant or have a capacity problem with your staff, then you have to refuse tables.

We passed on dessert and coffees after spending hours in the restaurant due to slow and poor service, and paid a hefty price as well. We have a standing reservation later this month but unsure if we will honour it based on this most recent experience. For the price you pay at Sarmiento, this was frankly...

First time in Malaga, Spain with a couple of friends I made a reservation here for my boyfriends birthday and I have no regrets.. can't wait to come back here once we visit Malaga again!

The food is 10/10 Customer Service is 10/10 Views 10/10! Amazing and we are a bunch of foodies that love incredible views. We didn't expect to run into the owner, his name is Miguel such good energy and very welcoming. He told us about what Malaga has to offer and recommended other sites to visit.

What surprised me the most is we were enjoying our time there that we didn't realize they were closing. As people from North America we are usually rushed and given the bill at the table (dry attitudes as well to make us leave). Here, we didn't witness any of that, Miguel insisted we take our time and enjoy ourselves. He even gave us digestive shots and took multiple group photos of us haha. Sounds like it shouldn't mean much but it definitely did to us compared to our norms. Definitely coming back here !

(Before coming here i noticed small negative reviews, but you really don't know unless you try it...

I was there celebrating my birthday. We ordered the waygu, they thought we couldn’t tell the difference - flashed us the meat piece quickly (no marbling on the meat whatsoever - so it wasn’t waygu) and served us something else that was not waygu, but abaolutely charged us for waygu - at 117€ for thr piece of fake waygu. Shame how prejudice they turned out to be, since it was recommended. Whilst the meat we had was lovely it wasn’t what we paid for and ordered. Shame to be treated so disgustingly. Sadly as we were in a bit of a rush we couldn’t enjoy the afternoon there which is the only reason why we didn’t kick up a fuss. The views amazing, but watch out as the staff are elitist restaurant workers (oxymoron). Disgusting to be treated as the fools they obviously thought we were. Good food but nothing you cant find elsewhere in marbella. The service and treatment is shameful. They think far too highly of themselves. Such a shame we didn’t get to experience what we hoped.

Our shared experience at Sarmiento was stellar. The food and setting was absolutely amazing. Some dishes reaching heights of 10/10. I especially recommend the Tuna Tartar, Acorn Iberico, Wagu & the goat milk sorbet. However, the real crown jewel isn't the food or the location, both of which are superb. The crescendo that made this an unforgettable experience was the staff. I have never experienced such an enthusiasm and passion for a wholesome experience in my life. This surpassed several other star-praised Michellin restaurants. To top things off they offered very exclusive wines for a modest price. Overall it combined to a wonderful, unforgettable experience. We sat and praised the restaurant the whole way home and woke up the next day with a feeling of satisfaction. We would love yo come back here at a later time. Definitely worth the drive.

Was let down as it didn't meet expectations. We waited 30 mins just to get menus. By the time we got our first starter, it had already been over 1hr. Our total time at the restaurant was 2 hours, and we only ordered starters! Unfortunately the prawns were not deveined (the digestive tract was not removed), so we didn't have them. They didn't charge us for them. The bread and olive oil were great. However, they didn't mention anywhere that it was an extra charge when they gave it to you without asking. Wasn't sure about the pippets in the croquettes, didn't look very aesthetic, or add too much flavour. The view is beautiful though, I just didn't expect to spend my whole afternoon here. Felt a bit judged by the staff, they were not that attentive. Favourite dish was the tacos.
