Average presentation for the price point and a couple stand out dishes, but more dishes were bad than good in my opinion. The service was slow and not very attentive, and my group detected some hint of attitude from the servers (but this is quite subjective). Paid ~660 euros for a group of six, but the 3h+ dining experience was more mentally taxing than enjoyable. If the meal was offered for free I still wouldn’t go back; I’d rather bake a couple frozen pizzas.
How I felt about the dishes in order: First amuse bouche was decent - a little bit too heavy on the milk and cheesy funkiness, but not bad Second amuse bouche was really good! Complex and interesting flavors in a aesthetic bite sized presentation Sauce on a spatula was… weird and not good? seasonal salad was interesting for the first bite, but very one dimensional after that. Just the same vinegary pickled flavor with no noticeable depth eel and leek dish was mediocre. Leeks were underseasoned and tougher than I’d expect, and the eel was fine? The crispy eel bits were good though lobster ravioli with foie gras sauce and truffle was small but delicious. The lobster was sweet and juicy, and the sauce was great with good depth of flavor. Didnt get much truffle flavor but I didnt mind. aged tuna with eggplant and miso was fine. The tuna was soft in a tofu-like way, but a bit flakey and dry like canned tuna. The miso sauce was good but nothing to write home about. boletus ravioli was good but the sauce was a bit too salty. Instead of giving us spoons, the stupid rubber spatula returned. Seriously guys, get rid of that lamb with red cabbage was disappointing. The lamb was woefully underseasoned and on the tough side. My wife’s lamb was wonderfully seasoned - not sure how this went wrong lol.. prize winning tuna: I REALLY wanted to like this, but I hated it. A pâté like texture with decent flavors, but a pungent disgustingly fishy aftertaste that tasted rotten. I tried a couple bites and couldn’t get past it. I would rather eat cat food next time black sesame and red bean dessert was fine. Presentation of it was fun but the flavors were just fine the hazelnut (not pictured) was okay. The hazelnut consomme was actually pretty enjoyable, but poured onto the dessert it just made the whole thing watery.. coulant: below average but the star of the show because it was still miles better than the award winning pungent tuna assortment of desserts: pretty bad, except the macarons...
Read moreOverall it was just okay, and not worth it for the price. The dinner started with a complimentary glass of local vermouth that was quite delicious, but more or less went downhill from there.
To start with, the service was rather inattentive. They frequently failed to check on our tables' needs, including courtesies such as ensuring we had enough olive oil and/or bread. When we asked for more olive oil, they went around and refilled other tables first, with my impression being that they weren't checking on any tables, let alone ours. On at least one occasion, they delivered food without explaining anything further about the meal or dish until we asked.
Perhaps more importantly, the food wasn't particularly great. We had a variety of courses of varying quality throughout the night, and none of which leaving any lasting positive impression on me. Their plating was often odd, including poorly aligned and squished raviolis, or a bizarre choice of serving food with a rubber spatula instead of a spoon several times. The taste was generally bland as well. Their signature tuna royal dish was mushy and pungent; their included tuna with miso was tough and bland. Their lamb included generous seasoning for some diners at our table, and none for others. Their desserts were mostly fine, except for a soggy and somewhat bitter hazelnut dish whose consumme did more to water the food down than anything else. Other dishes didn't particularly stand out in any memorable way.
I usually try not to be overly critical of restaurants I dine at, but the issues I mentioned just don't tend to be present at other Michelin star restaurants. By the time we were an hour through the meal, I mostly just wanted the experience to be over. For a price of at least €100 per person and the Michelin reputation, I think it's fair to expect better from...
Read moreSince I was there the First Time around 2018 maybe I was thinking that Rafa is cooking on a 2 Star Michelin Level for very reasonable prices and i like his ideas and attitude very much. So, as a repeater I can say I am not surprised for his now 3 year repetitive Michelin Star and that this is more than deserved. Prices of course had to raise over time but still the price value relation is very very good. But you must have acquired gourmet tastes of course to be able to fully enjoy and understand all the ideas. But if you are open minded and ready to experience new combinations and tastes and put yourself on a sensoric journey this is a fantastic place. My recommendation: take the great menu and more important allow yourself one of the wine Degustation packages to make you experience even better, the combination of food and wine is well selected and supports each other in surprising ways. Very nice and competent service team. Tip : you can buy some of the wines so ask If you like something. I will Repeat...
