Mesoi Barria — Restaurant in Durango

The bar was busy at 8.30 pm on Sunday but our host made us very welcome and seated us quickly with menús. The atmosphere was good, lots of friendly locals. We had a very good bottle of white Rioja and we both shared our starters of vegetable lasagne and berenjena (aubergine), which were delicious. Mains were beef cheeks and bacalao, both excellent, the fish cooked perfectly. The crowning glory was the postre, oh my word! The flan was outstanding, they serve two and we had one each, just delightful. Then we tried the cheesecake. Incredible.  I have never tasted a cheesecake this good, anywhere, ever. This ended up being the bar we kept going back to. Fantastic tortillas, good wine, enormous and perfectly cooked steak. The wonderfully friendly staff put up with our dreadful Spanglish. Total bargain as well. Had change from €20 for an evening meal for 4. Clearly popular with local Durango community which is always a good sign. Would highly recommend...

This place was recommended to me by a local. Amazing atmosphere, fantastic value for money food but we had to wait longer than necessary for our dishes to be served and this is due to the fact that there was only one doing the serving, tidying up and washing at the time otherwise I would have given a 5*.
