We visited the Gastropub last night not sure of what to expect as El Gastor is a small unspoilt slice of Andalusian splendour and as such not associated with complex gastronomical fair. To say we were blown away by the food and service is an understatement. The menu is bilingual which is good, as there would be no way without Spanish to understand the complexity of the dishes the Chef has created. A wide and eclectic combination of quality produce and ingredients, perfectly cooked and plated made for an incredible experience. To add to this the service was excellent with a perfect balance of attentiveness but non intrusive. We got two starters, broken egg over fried potatoes with foie gras and truffle along with a wild mushroom omelette, both delicious. For our main we ordered three dishes as it was hard to chose what to go with so we decided feck it we're on holidays, why not. A red tuna dish that was seared and cooked to perfection, pork with parmesan and a hake ratatouille. All once again cooked and presented to the highest standards. To top it all of the final cost of the meal was way below what one would expect to pay for this standard of service and food. Our only disappointment was not going to the restaurant earlier on our holiday so we could sample every dish on the menu. Kudos to the Chef and staff at Gastrobar, we will be back to El Gastor over the coming years and look forward to eating there again, many...
Read moreWe were staying in the area and came across this place, which had very good reviews, so thought we must try it. It is located next to a public swimming pool with a big terrace overlooking the El Gastor, amazing views. The restaurant is very nice and modern, although the terrace felt quite dirty and there was no working lock on toilets, not great unless you are happy to share your business with others. The menu has a nice selection of dishes and so we decided to go with gyozas, wok de presa and lomo merluza. Gyozas were ok, although a little bland, perhaps the mayo sauce it came with needed a bit of kick, but unfortunately both the wok and merluza were very salty. My husband went ahead anyway and had his fish, but I asked for a new dish, which the waiter reluctantly replaced after telling me it’s salty because there is soy sauce in it. Well, just because you use soy in a dish does not excuse the fact it was overly salty, the entire Asia manages to use it without all of their dishes being overpoweringly salty. Anyway, my replacement dish came, but unfortunately it was very disappointing, very oily and the meat was very fatty and chewy, probably the worst wok I ever had. Overall my expectations from the reviews were not met and we left...
Read moreWithout a doubt, a beautiful experience – perfect to enjoy with family or friends. You can relax by the clear and clean pool, surrounded by green areas with trees, showers, toilets, and everything fully equipped. And then, a lovely lunch at the gastrobar, which combines our traditional food with a modern and trendy twist, beautifully presented too!
And last but not least, the staff… Every waiter makes sure your experience is smooth and enjoyable. Special mention to Bartolo, who’s always making sure you have everything you need by the pool. There’s also a kiosk right next to it where you’ll find ice-cold drinks.
Gastrobar Piscina is definitely a must-visit and the perfect way to wrap up your trip to the charming and very Instagrammable village...
