I've been here before and had enjoyed both the food and the spectacular views the balcony seating affords, but this time our experience was not the greatest, mainly due to the poor service. It's a known fact restaurant service is lacking in Spain in general, but this was quite poor. We were sat at our table and a five or 10 minutes later someone came to take our drink order. We had already been looking at the food menu so we were ready to order, but we were told we had to wait for a different person to come and take the food order. We waited another 15 minutes and another waitress came to take the order. Halfway through taking it her colleague came and said something to her and she left, without saying anything to us, and didn't return for another 15 minutes. Once we ordered we waited, and waited. About 20 minutes after ordering the waitress came back to tell us they couldn't make a one of the dishes because they had run out of eggs. We figured out an alternative and continued waiting. And waiting. After waiting another 25-30 minutes they finally brought the kids' dishes (scrambled eggs) and we continued to wait while the kids ate. Another 15-20 minutes later (of course, once the kids have finished eating) our food arrived. Mine was not what I ordered and when I told the server so she said I was wrong and that was what had been ordered. I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for a new dish, so I just took it, but it was so tough and dry (the garlic rabbit. Do NOT order it) I asked my parents to get me a sauce while I went out to play with the girls so my husband could eat. When I came back the dish I ordered was on the table. Seems like someone had left it on the counter in the kitchen and they just reheated it. We arrived at 3:30pm, were seated at 4:00 and began eating at 5:30. Being Spanish, I know Spanish lunch is usually a multi hour affair, but not usuallybecause you're waiting to be served. Aside from the long wait times, their management of customers is terrible. We weren't able to sit outside because all of their large balcony tables were full, but they were being taken up by couples who could have been sitting at smaller tables but weren't because they simply "wanted to sit there", as was pointed out to us by one of the helpful staff that refused to help us find a seat out on the balcony. Lastly, the desserts were also a disappointment. The Principe Alberto was too sweet and the Polvito Palmero was just whipped cream with a small drizzle of Dulce de leche and some tasteless powder on top. The Tartan de Tres Leches was actually quite good, but it's more of a custard than a cake, so don't let the name fool you. All in all, a terribly disappointing affair, given the other high...
Read moreWARNING! Don’t go to this place without a reservation if you’re hungry! We arrived hungry after the hike to the restaurant and waited like 10 minutes so that the waiter told us that there is a waiting list and put us on this list without information how much should we wait. After an hour we got a table and tried to order immediately but the staff is excellent in pretending that they don’t see the customers so we waited next 15-20 minutes to place an order. Food and the views were nice but I can’t give any other rate as 1/5 as it was my worst experience in Canary Islands. The staff is disrespectful and extremely slow so that is the main reason for the waiting list. If someone had informed me immediately after the arrival that we have to wait at least an hour to get a table we would just go to a different place without getting frustrated. I definitely don’t...
Read moreBeautiful view of the valley " Barranco de las Angustias" looking right into it and up to "La Caldera" as the restaurant is placed right on the edge and relativly high up. There is ample parking just across the small road from the restaurant entrance. There is seating both inside and out including a small private room for a large group. The food i would give a 7/10. There was a good selection with steaks, breaded chicken and rabbit on the menu aswell as other Palmeran food like Canary potatoes "papas arrugadas" with "mojo rojo" . Very nice!! It isnt overpriced, and the staff were really nice, attentive but non intrusive. There was also a small area for children to play outside with a slide and swing. Nothing fancy, and quite a small space but kept my son amused playing with other children whilst us adults finished our coffees...
