Pizzería La Perla Negra — Restaurant in Elx / Elche

Found this place as a recommended Airbnb restaurant and also recommended by the homeowner of the Airbnb we booked into for the month of May in L’Altet. Because L’Altet is a very Spanish town with very few English-speaking people the main places to eat are small Tapas and pizza cafés. We came to this pizzeria and the chef/owner greeted us very warmly and after choosing our pizza went off to make it fresh in the open oven. He even asked us which channel on the television we would like to watch and tuned into a British one for us. The food came was very palatable & tasty but far too much so in my broken Spanish asked for a box to take it away but lost in translation he ended up pouring me a small beer until I used Google translator and then he understood so we both had a good laugh all in all a very nice quaint typically Spanish pizzeria to visit...

A small, simple restaurant with seating inside and on the curb. A very friendly waitress seated us outside as the inside was stiflingly hot mid August. They have a wood burning pizza oven so it gets very hot inside. We ordered pizza carbonara, and tortellini carbonara. Not really any vegan options so she asked if she could have spaghetti with olive oil and garlic which was no problem. The pizza was very creamy but didn't really remind any of us of carbonara but rather alfredo, none of us were super fans of it, on the plus side, really good crust. Las pizzas están buenas y están bien hechas, en horno de piedra, que se ve al entrar al local. El tamaño mediano es decente y apto para compartir la mitad, si comes normal (y no jalas como un animal, entonces la familiar es la tuya).

La masa es muy finita, está buena. Tampoco salen con trozos de masa quemada, como en otras pizzerías de horno tradicional. Eso me gusta. ¡El sabor de la carbonara me gustó mucho! Quizá le añadiría aún más carbonara, hasta el mismo borde. Se queda algo escasa para lo rica que está. La de pollo con pimientos no es tan sabrosa, y es más seca. Pero probaré más sabores. Me gustó que entra un bote de bebida por pizza; es un detalle y justifica el precio, que aunque haya subido, sigue siendo más bajo que en casi todas las pizzerías.

Ahora han subido los precios entre 1 y 2€, aunque mantienen la carta (actualizo con foto del menú y nuevos precios).

No tiene servicio a domicilio, pero se puede comer allí, en interior o terraza en la baldosa. O llamar y recoger, y tardan unos 25min para dos pizzas -ejemplo de sábado noche, no está mal-.

Recomiendo sólo comer dentro si te gusta el calor de horno. Igual en un muy frío invierno (difícil en la costa de Alicante) está bien… En verano, es asfixiante. No hay aire acondicionado y la iluminación no es buena, ni crea ambiente. Si fuera hace buena temperatura y tiempo, estará mejor. Pero mi recomendación es que las pidas para recoger y te la comes en otra parte.
