Restaurante Es Mal Pas — Restaurant in Formentera

First, the food was incredible! Top ingredients, creative inspiration, expertly prepared. Our compliments to the chef!

But, hands down the worst service we have received at any restaurant in Spain. When we arrived, we walked around for 10 minutes with no greeting. I asked the hotel front desk clerk walking around and he just said yes you are in the restaurant. I walked up to the bar where two men were talking and asked if we check-in here… he curtly replied “Minuto” and kept talking. A couple of minutes later he walked over and just waived us to our table. We luckily got a menu, but no explanation of dishes, which are quite unique in style and portion. Once we ordered the dishes came out nicely but we never saw our waiter again except my wife saw him sitting inside on his phone. We ended up asking the waitress helping another table for the dessert menu which also came out promptly and was delicious. We asked the bus boy for ‘La Cuenta’ which we got and then several minutes later our waiter finally came back with the credit card machine.

I think our experience was exclusive to this waiter, so I’m sharing so the restaurant can improve and diners can be aware to set expectations low for service, but high...

Excellent food, delicious & surprising dishes and great wines. Diner in a super comfortabel way, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpfull. Make you feel right at home. The menu is divers and the dishes are created by someone who obviously has a lot of love for the nature of the Island, good quality food & creative know how.
