Restaurante La Tortuga — Restaurant in Formentera

After a long day of exploring Formentera, serendipity struck as we pulled into the full parking lot at La Tortuga. They were packed and the smells coming from the kitchen were intoxicating. They were unfortunately booked but asked us to hang in there for 15 minutes. They offered us glasses of wine as we waited. And just as predicted in 15 minutes we had an excellent table for two. We explored their wine list and discovered a 2018 Garmon. An excellent Tempranillo blended from grapes on vines ranging from 30 to 100 years. Then aged in French Oak for 20 months. Boom! We had arrived at a special moment when the wine speaks to you. The menu is filled with many choices that will please anyone or situation. The staff are excellent and are there to make your evening special. We came back again a second time and hit the 2018 Garmon. Solo he ido una vez, pero por mi experiencia no puedo ponerle más de dos estrellas. El sitio es bonito, pero la comida que nos pusieron fue un poco decepcionante, no por mala, qué no lo estaba, sino porque era más propia de un piso de estudiantes que de un restaurante. Pedimos dos copas de vino blanco verdejo que parecía tinto don Simon de cartón. Después el tartar de aguacate y langostinos, pero nos ponen una ensalada de mezclum, con un plasta de aguacate en forma redonda ( de tartar) y cuatro langostinos a la plancha por encima. ¿Estaba bueno? Sí, los ingredientes están ricos, pero eso no es un tartar de aguacate y langostinos. Luego pedimos la cazuelita de calabacín, muy rico, cuatro rodajas de calabacín en una cazuelita con tomate frito y queso gratinado. No puede estar malo, pero es plato demasiado simple, eso sí, resulton. De plato fuerte pedimos el wok de ternera que resulta ser un plato de espaguetis sosos con cosas, unos trozos de ternera y apenas verdura. Por 20 pavos. Lo primero, ¿desde cuándo un wok se hace con espaguetis?, lo segundo es q eso ni es un wok, ni es nada, no está hecho en un un wok, ni siquiera sabe mínimamente a salsa de soja. No habéis visto un wok en la vida, los he probado mucho más buenos por menos de la mitad de precio. Todo esto por el modico precio de 60€.

PD: Los que decís que la comida está buena, perdonadme pero habéis ido a pocos restaurantes. Que no está mala, cierto, pero cierto tb que yo en primero de carrera tenía más nivel de cocina...

Our first time at this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. Previously, the location had put us off as it is right next to the main road. However, once inside we were seated in a very delightful terrace and totally unaware of the proximity of the road. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked.
