After being lured in at the street by an appealing ‘€2 beer and tapas’, we agreed to be seated on the beach and was approached by the server in the photos attached. He explained (in Spanish) that it was a small or medium beer with a tapas dish. After trying to communicate multiple times we would like a medium beer and what tapas was available, he went on to say we could have a tuna salad or ‘meat’ paella. We said we would have two of the meat paellas. We got the served the beer but after 30 minutes, no tapas arrived. As we were trying to get the last bus back to where we lived we asked for the bill as we were short of time. The bill came to €10. We contested the bill but got told we had to pay the €10. As we both had not finished our beer, we had said we would leave them €5 and wish to leave and went to leave. We were followed by the man pictured who was RAGING in Spanish. He tried to take my bag, my partners bag, picked up a stick on the beach and attempted to attack me. After avoiding the attack… he then spat on my face. Unfortunately, it seems as though the colleagues and the locals wanted to call the Police, but as we already knew, they would of course side with the disgusting low life of a man. I will be taking this further once back to where we are staying and take guidance from friends who are fluent in Spanish and live in Mojacker of what I can do as the behaviour is unacceptable and degrading. Finally, looking at the other a reviews, it’s very clear this is a place to avoid. It’s the last day of our holidays and it’s ruined the experience. PLEASE DO AVOID THIS PLACE!

As a family of four, one picky child eater and a vegetarian (does eat some fish) we were lured in to the restaurant and promised a nice meal by the sea, away from the roadside like most restaurants. Service good and looked to be family run an overall a nice place/location. however we were expected to order without having looked at the menu, which when asked for we got, but still sold the special of the day a fish and meat paella for two €22 (each I’ve since learnt) Then a burger and chips for the fussy eater and a red tuna dish, which was lovely. Then asked by the waiter if we’d like a few prawns and chips to start with along with bread which we accepted. Oh wow! when the platter arrived enough for all four of us of prawns and chips But only one/two of us ate them. This was not a small portion by any means! The food was good and the paella was plentiful. Downside was the bill. Charge €56 plus €6 for chips for our small starter and they even added an extra €17 for something which wasn’t picked up on because of the shock of the prawns price! An extra drink also added. Overall VERY pricey for things you don’t really know what you’re getting if you don’t understand the local language, so please ask for a price before agreeing to anything here!! And check the bill contents. Feel very disappointed as such a nice place and that we were just taken advantage of.

We visited this restaurant only to have a quick drink by the beach, so we can’t comment on the food. We were a family on holiday and had planned to spend the day enjoying the inflatables in the sea at Garrucha. However, our children didn’t enjoy the inflatables and wanted to leave after just five minutes. While we were briefly in the sea, one family member stayed behind on a beach bed belonging to the restaurant. They explained to the waiter that we weren't sure if we would be staying and asked for “five minutes” to decide, given the kids were upset. The waiter seemed fine with this. After coming out of the water, we decided to go inside the restaurant just for a quick drink to dry off. We ordered three soft drinks and a sangria, but were shocked when the bill came to €25. They had added a charge for the beach bed, even though we had already explained we weren’t staying. When we politely raised the issue, the staff refused to remove the charge and argued with us. We left €15 on the table and walked out. A waiter with highlighted hair followed us out of the restaurant, being very rude—even though we had a baby and two young children with us. Looking at other reviews, it seems this kind of behavior isn’t uncommon here. If you're British, or just want a stress-free experience, avoid this place at all costs!

They insisted on our party of 10 to go for the seafood as it was their specialty. We really didn't want to. We also asked for the price up frond but he was vague. Just that it was by the kilo and only fish was a bit more economic. We ordered a fish table in the end (as he persisted) for 3 persons with explicitely no seafood just fish. He kept on insisting he had to put in some gambas. Giving he was almost closing we thought ok, let's give this guy a break to finish his last portion. So we said ok, just a few gambas. We ended up getting a ridiculous large amount of seafood (would have been too much for 5 people even) and just 2 pieces of fish (which we orderd). And the bill was mindblowing. We paid for a the gambas 138,60 total, 71,73 for the fish on that platter and 70,68 for the rest of the sea food on the dish. A total of 281,01! for 1 dish of seafood (which we explicitely did not order in that way). It is just disrespectful. You pay it, because you ate from it, but you feel extremely screwed over as you pay the highest price you can imagine in a setting that is not higher end in any way.

The rest of the party that ordered the meat had it send back to get it better done as it was too raw when served. But hey, that can happen. They were friendly to do that. They became a bit nasty after we expressed our surprise over the fish dish.

The fish platter thing is just their scam specialty. We come here a lot and we eat out a lot. And if we choose to pay more we will do so happily in an honest and higher end setting. But we will not be returning here and will make sure to never recommend our friends and family to go here. If someone ever recommends it to you, make sure to question their intentions ;)

To end in a positive note, we had so many seafood left as it was way too much for 3 persons, we brought it home and our street cats we feed, had a total blast with the "doggybag" :D But seriously, we would have rather donated the 200 euros overpricing to a local shelter.

The entire bill was 529,01. We don't want to even think of how much it would have been if would have agreed on the entire party of 10 to have taken the dish of seafood as he recommended in the first place.

Oh and the bathroom did not have running water to wash your hands. Weird for a place where you are suppose to eat a part of the seafood with your hands. (So I wonder if the staff has clean hands)

Conclusing: not recommended and stay far away...

Nice until you get the bill… We were approached by the owner whilst walking past. Usually, we do not enter an establishment which touts for business. However, this place was the only one open. The location is superb, right onto the beach ( actually, a chiringito in disguise). The friendly waiter promised us a large sea bass, big enough for two at 35€ ….unfortunately, we were very disappointed at the portion when it arrived. (We had eaten sea bass last week at the other end of Garrucha same price but at least 75% bigger). We always check the menu and prices. We ordered a mixed salad. WOW..!This was a massive colourful portion to share for a supposed €6.(only when we got the bill did we find that we had been charged €6 each..so 12€. Hence the surprising size… Water is listed at €1.50 for a small bottle..we ordered small con gas..this is not listed in the menu..another shock €3.50 ..so this means €2 for the bubbles!!! Dessert of ice cream at €6.50 and a mediocre cheesecake at €5.00..don’t bother.! When the bill arrived at a whopping €75.50 the waiter said that he would only accept cash payment (tax dodge?). He was not at all happy when we informed him that we did not have cash and would have to use card. He skulked away..at this point I thought that I was going to be escorted / marched to a cash point..! After a pause he returned with a card machine. Chiringitos always insist on cash. This place appears to be a regular restaurant…I now know that it is not. I wish that these places would treat customers with respect and not scam them. Everytime that I leave a Chiringito I always feel let down and ripped off. Very silly of these owners. I live locally, and now they have lost another valued...
