DANGER. WE WERE POISONED HERE.
See review below. One week later and we are still sick. Owner gave false email I had to find the right way to contact, but ZERO answer of course. Not a single word in return, nothing.
Edit2 (response to owner): look at the screenshot, try to send an email. That address is not correct.
Edit: the stock response “write us an email at reservations at playagrande dot cat” is not only lazy, copy/paste and unpersonal but guess what: the email address doesn’t even exist!
I really wanted to love this experience. It could have been perfect.
MOLD Great room, great food, but wife and I both got REALLY sick from what must be mold in the AC. Trouble breathing, headaches. Told reception, no action undertaken afaik. Haven’t been this sick in a long time.
Awesome food, but no appetite because we’re so sick
MUSIC Endless noise pollution in the room, cheap Ibiza style house music that nobody likes in a calm holiday resort. Completely out of place. Whomever thinks this music is what any the customers want should think again. This is not a club. Nobody is dancing.
Just play something relaxing if at all. The Ibiza house messed up the massage experience, made us unable to relax in our own room - and the sound system is broken for an extra layer of horrible sound artifacts. Why?????
STAFF Friendly young and capable but very bad English. Good English should be a must for a hotel catering international tourists daily and charging this amount of money.
Weird rules: we can’t have our lunch inside but HAVE to go outside to order one dish. Because somehow it’s impossible to bring that one dish inside. Should be fine, but the manager telling us was ridiculously rude and short.
— All in all we are leaving more stressed out and sicker than how we came, plus 2500 euros lighter.
Read moreHow can anyone rate less than five stars?! My husband and I booked a few nights at the hotel and I will honestly say, this was one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed at. Very private, quiet, and we enjoyed every amenity the hotel had to offer. From our early arrival into BCN, the hotel host offered complimentary luggage storage until check in - 10/10 awesome! Then she offered us robes for the spa that way we could spend time using the amenities before we checked in - 10/10 awesome!
When our room was ready (an hour earlier than expected), we went up to our room and our jaws dropped at the spectacular, grand room we had: the Deluxe Double Room, Terrace, Sea View. Mind you, this was mine and my husbands honeymoon and it truly felt like a dream!!!!
The room was extremely spacious, beautifully decorated, sparkly clean, well-equipped, massive walk in closet, comfortable lounging area, and a beautiful balcony that faces the ocean. Nothing, absolutely nothing can beat this. Oh and we also had the hotel breakfast in the morning - it was delicious and the service was quick and attentive!
We loved the hotel so much, once we made our rounds around Spain and France, we returned to Barcelona during the last part of our trip and stayed book another night with Playa Grande in the Deluxe Double room!
Aside from the hotel, the restaurant had delicious options for appetizers, entrees, and wine. The service we received from the entire staff was quite exceptional and we were really pleased with the paella we ordered.
Overall, my husband and I were thoroughly impressed with Playa Grande. We traveled from Tampa, Florida (from one beachy town to another), and there's just nothing like Playa Grande here in the US. I think a major contributing factor to our wonderful experience was the season. We traveled between March 4th - March 14th, which is generally a slower season.
Thank you for such a lovely stay and experience, Playa Grande! We...
Read moreLet’s start with the positive side ; the rooms are comfortable and spacious, the spa is very pleasant, and the common areas are well decorated. There's not much to do in the area, but if you just want to relax, this is a good option.
On the other hand, the reception and customer service needs to be reviewed. We hadn't physically brought our passports back and the person at reception made us go back to Barcelona to collect them because she didn't want copies on our phones. It's the first time this has happened to us, and apparently it's the law! Why not, but it would be a good idea to send an email with a minimum of information before arrival to avoid this kind of problem! When we came back with our passports, we were given the room keys with no further information on the spa's opening hours, how the restaurant worked, etc. Just « here is you room number thanks you « And the person in charge even kept our passports !
When we checked out, it was a new person who told us that normally she shouldn't have kept the passports (in short, the whole thing was very disorganised). We also asked about the commercial gesture that the person checking us in offered us for the inconvenience of having to do 1h to return home, and he replied that no, we should have brought our passports back. It would have been better not to tell us anything at all ... in short, in general,it’s reels quite disorganised and the staff are not necessarily very welcoming, smiling or warm.
The service is very slow, you can sit at a table for 10 minutes before a waiter deigns to come and see you, even though there's no-one in the restaurant. In short, you look more like you're annoying the staff than anything else. This takes away from the slightly upmarket atmosphere that this place is trying to create with...
