Restaurante Area De Servicio San Sebastian — Restaurant in Hernani

We just crossed the border after driving through France. It was a cold and rainy day and we felt quite hungry. This place is located right next to the highway, with a gas station and a small shop also on site.

This restaurant here offers some good, affordable food. Our dog was welcome outside on the pation, which luckily was covered. So we took a table there. Had a spanish style Cordon-Bleu with fries and salad. Salad was nice and fresh, crunchy with good dressing. Fries were hot and crispy. So far so good. The Cordon-Bleu was a real nice surprise. Meat of good quality, filled with a creamy cheese and spanish Jamon. And then some sliced bell peppers. Never had it in this combination, but tasted perfect. A really great meal. Didn't expect to eat that good at a rest stop next to the highway. But it was delicous. Bathrooms are also located in here. Very nice and clean. Filled up on gas (a lot cheaper than in France) and then headed to Cantabria.

I couldn’t even qualify the service of bad it would be an euphemism ; and it would be ok if it were the only problem but it’s the first of quite a list… I have no words to describe the toilets (I mean those which are not clogged you better be there when that happens) absolutely disgusting just like the rest of the restaurant. And as for the food, we’ve taken pastries and I can tell you they weren’t from today, not from yesterday either for that matters or from any day before a couple weeks from now I’ld say… Anyway hope I’ve been useful, just drive an extra mile (mile...

Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food! (Comment during Covid-19 times) Despite needing a mask to get in and approach staff, you can eat/drink at a table inside (they indicate which one you should seat at). We chose to eat outside and there's no table service outside. Good service. There are toilets, a baby changing room and disabled toilet. A great stop for tasty food, there's sandwiches and tortillas. We went for a couple of Pratos (Plated food) and had Calamares and the Filete de ternera (a steak)....
