We did not stay in the hotel but went for dinner here one night with our 2 children aged 11 and 9 having spent the day on the beach below. We ordered two starters between us and then tried to order a number of fish dishes but they weren't available. The waiter suggested a local fish dish instead and we agreed. It wasn't on the menu and we have no spanish so presumed it would be in line with everywhere else.. We didn't see a wine menu but asked him for a bottle of house wine. The fish dish turned out to be a sea bass with potatoes and veg which was shared between us. We then had three desserts, two fruit juices, two hot chocolates and a coffee. The meal was fine but not particularly exciting. The bill came to €197 - they had charged us €120 for the fish and the wine was the most expensive in the house. In all it was more than double the price we normally paid in much better restaurants. We didn't bring credit cards with us as we had been on the beach and were €8 short. We asked if it would be ok to bring it down to them in the morning as we were staying locally but they wanted to hold a passport. My very upset 9 year-old managed to come up with another 5 euro and we returned the following day with the outstanding €3. ||When we told Spanish friends what had happened they were horrified at the price and the demand for our passports and advised us to make an official complaint which you then send on to the tourism board. When we went to the restaurant to get the official complaint form which by law they are obliged to have, they at first denied we were ever there. Eventually they produced one and we filled it in. ||We have been going on holidays to Spain for the last few years and thankfully have never been ripped off like this before. Hopefully...

Read moreI made a reservation through Booking.com, but upon arrival at the hotel, I decided not to stay. My room’s window overlooked the restaurant below, which was very crowded and noisy. People were smoking right outside my window, and the smoke drifted into the room continuously. I couldn’t open the curtains for fresh air because it felt like we were in an aquarium—everyone in the restaurant was able to see into the room, and it offered zero privacy for me and my child.
I asked for a refund after less than 30 minutes of being there, as we felt uncomfortable and unsafe. However, the hotel refused to refund the full amount I had already paid. This was very disappointing and frustrating, and unfortunately, it ruined what should have been a...
