Restaurante Alacena — Restaurant in Loja

This is a 20 minute walk from the motorhome Aire but well worth the effort for the menu del dia.

The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived at 13.30. We thought it may be closed but the friendly waiter sat us down and took our order.

A basket of fresh bread, a plate of olives and 2 glasses of white wine were placed on the table.

First course: My wife had the Ensaladilla Rusa (Russian Salad) and I had the Fideua (Paella with Pasta). My wife really loved her dish as it was loaded with tuna. My dish which I never had before was very tasty.

Second Course: My wife had Churrasco Pollo (BBQ Chicken) which she really loved as it had the brown meat I had Lasaña de Carne (Lasagna). It was extremely hot to start and waiting for it to cool a little it tasted creamy and lovely.

Desert: We both had the Tarta de Almendras which was a great finisher.

The food was really well presented and the restaurant was fancy and looked really good when you walk in. The waiter spoke english after hearing my bad Spanish. The bill was twenty eight euro, paid...

So disappointed we went for dinner 4 of us , been before many times over last 18 years. We Ordered our drinks and when they came they waiter produced the bar code scanner and said we had to order from the scanner. None of us had a phone so asked for a menu but were told we could only order the food and pay via the phone app. We asked again if we could use cash or a card and was told no so we had to leave. The waiter knew we had no phones on us yet still brought the drinks which obviously we couldn’t drink. So disappointed as came with family . My husbands phone always struggles anyway to scan menus let alone pay so if I don’t have mine with me then unfortunately we will not be able to eat there or drink again. Crazy system not fair to older people who don’t use this technology to order food let alone pay by phone . A notice on the wall or table would at least help to make this clear before people at least order drinks. So we had to take our...

As tourists, we didn't pay attention to the times when food is served. There isn't much choice in the region on Sundays anyway.
