The Napicol is tucked away in small Meliana village, just off the main street and though still next to Valencia city has its horticultural landscape still surrounding the village. The restaurant is in a former town house with a pleasant terrace. Inside you are greeted with a modern setting and an open kitchen where the chefs are working diligently in the background. The waitresses are attentive and pleasant without been ostentatious, while the table setting is set with a properly dressed table.

The menu a la carte is short on starters, but sufficient. We opted for rabbit "ensaladilla" , tomato salad and zucchini flower filled with cuttlefish. This last one was certainly a real treat. The rice we opted for was with cauliflower, cuttlefish and sausage. A very surprising mix but complemented one another nicely. The rice was cooked to perfection but could perhaps have had been a little less oily. Moving on to dessert we had a custardly vanilla flan and a wicked chocolate cake.

All in all, the place seems to be getting noticed and has received several culinary mentions from the food guides, which is...

This is the secret best place to eat in (or rather outside of) Valencia.

Family run countryside restaurant where attention to detail and ingredients and love and balance between simplicity and flavour all blend into absolute perfection. If you come you MUST preorder either one of the arroces but ideally the classic paella as this place is top 2-3 in Valencia to have it.

We had the classic and the flavour achieved in the rice and the socarrat was the best I’ve ever tried.

The other dishes on the menu are just as amazing and you can come just to try those. Top 2tomato salad starter I’ve ever had anywhere in my life. Must order! Bonito with fig (when in season) and ajo blanco is simply divine!

The chef Temo whipped up a grilled squid (hot and cold type prep) just for us - which was sensational. Flavour attention to detail and love shine through.

This is the perfect place a seasoned food connoisseur secretly longs for: off the beaten track, no Michelin menus, refined flavours, amazing ingredients and veg sourced from either own farm or a closely associated supplier, just love and layers in...
