A great find in Ribes de Freser! This cosy and comfortable restaurant serves a variety of traditional Catalan dishes that are both delicious and visually appealing. My partner and I both chose the 22 Euro menu, which includes 2 general dishes and a dessert, along with an alcoholic beverage of your choice and a bottle of water. The 2 main dishes are a variety of what I would class as starters and mains - you are given the option to choose any combination of these. I selected steamed mussels and a beef entrecote - the mussels I would say were outstanding. My partner chose homemade canelones and grilled chicken, the canelones were the best she had ever had. I was super excited to try this place as the menu looked great and the man was lovely when I phoned to book. The reality was very much a disappointment however. Service and speed was beyond slow. And actually when I was ready to order I was told I had to wait for another couple first! In the same time it took for my salad to arrive (45 mins) the table that entered with me were already on desserts and a table that came in much later already had their food. I wonder if the positive reviews they have are all from locals as it certainly seemed like other tables were attended a lot quicker. Our small family of four adults were lucky enough to get a late table at this perfect gem with just a 1.5 hour advance reservation on a busy Sunday night during tourist season. The menu is diverse and creative, the service is attentive, and the ambiance is quaint and comfortable. We loved every dish we got — very creative flavors and high quality ingredients. The chef seems definitely an expert in flavor profile development and is attentive to both palette consistency and presentation.
