Awful ! We both ordered from the meal of the day menu. Mushroom soup, and Paella to start with. The Paella was cold and had to be returned. We shared the mushroom soup and could see that the Paella had been returned to the service hatch, awaiting delivery to our table, and that's where it stayed. Eventually, my partner got up and collected it. A few minutes later, our main course arrived, and the Paella was snatched away while we were still eating it. Our main courses were tilapia for my partner, which was served with a mess of mixed vegetables straight out of the freezer. I had fish Croquettes, which was served with chips ! The Tilapia was nice but everything else on the plate was horrid. I tried to eat mine and found that the chips were stone cold ! Again, the dish was returned, and after five minutes, the plate was returned. I tried the Croquettes and found that they were oily and half empty. My partner attempted to eat one but couldn't. The picture of the food shown is what we left, which was most of what was served. There were no apologies from the staff for any of the cold food or for the terrible service offered. The only reason I have given 1 star for the food is that the lager was nice. The only reason I have given 1 star for the service is that the staff managed to get the lager to our table without...
Read morePossibly the worst dining experience I have had - brief and inexplicable. We chose from the menu but then the waiter allowed us to order four tapas ONLY...didn't wait as we tried to order more food. Perhaps it was the time we were eating but there was no explanation of this so we were just left somewhat confused. When the food did come out it left us speechless - croquetas means one slightly charred standard croquette with a few poorly fried, basic chips next to it. The olives tasted like they had been open for years and were so vinegary they were unpalatable. The 'bacon' came as an anaemic looking wedge of meat shoved in a cut off of baguette. If my Spanish were up to scratch I would have complained - just thankful it was very low cost but we were not made to feel welcome and would never recommend this restaurant or visit again. Wholly misleading and uninformative menu. Disappointing - especially as Roquestas de Mar is supposedly working on its attraction...
