Did not stay at hotel but ate repeatedly at restaurant; amazing! Even if you are in Sarria or Lugo, it’s worth the trip; it’s that good & the price is fair, 15€ & you get a great meal. Good for solo diners, couples, families & they even cater special occasions like family banquets & other celebrations.

It is in Samos, adjacent to one of the most beautifully preserved monasteries in Spain. There are guided tours; must see. It is 20 minutes from Sarria and 45 min from Lugo city. Plan a monastery visit followed by lunch, dinner or breakfast. I heard it gets very busy weekends & holidays.

The restaurant is family owned. They never close! All the family is charming, kind & generous. The owner’s son speaks English well. (I overheard him speak on the phone). Their 3-course daily menu of 15€ is not to be missed. Select amongst many local dishes. The menu includes wine or water & their homemade desserts. I had the chestnut moose which was delicious. They also have an extensive a-la-cart menu but the daily pre-fixe 15€ is THE BEST.

The homemade beef croquettes are spectacular. I make my own croquettes and these are better. I tried to get the recipe; no luck.

The setting of the restaurant is beautiful. It is on the ground floor of the small hotel in Somos, next to the monastery, facing a forest with large very clean windows. The tables are sturdy and comfortable chairs. It is impeccably clean.

Looks can be very deceptive; this hotel looks quite plain from the front, but is lovely inside. The entrance opens into a large bar area which also acts as the reception. A door to one side leads to the very large restaurant and the rooms. The flooring throughout the hotel is polished marble. The rooms are large and clean, with very comfortable beds. Menu of the day is reasonably priced, as are the drinks, and has a good selection of choose from. The food is wonderfully cooked. For breakfast there is a full selection of; fruit salad, yoghurt, cereal, muesli, bread, toast, crackers, cheese and cold meats, together with your selection of orange juice and...

The best value for money in my 23 days of walking Camino de Santiago. Service impeccable. I did not ask the usual question where the products come from - its deep in Galicia and I hope its from Galician farms - I've seen some of them on the way and happy to have any produce they provide (a big difference from other regions of Spain).
