Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid at All Costs
Our recent visit to Trocadero Sotogrande was, unfortunately, one of the worst leisure experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, the issues were apparent.
Despite the venue being almost empty, we were given the worst-positioned sun loungers, surrounded by muddy patches, and were not permitted to move them. The toilets in our section were closed, and although we were told they would be fixed within two hours, they remained unusable for the entire nine hours we were there. This meant we had to walk along a road to access facilities in another section. In the middle of the area, there was an open muddy hole with workers digging up and repairing a pipe — hardly the relaxing atmosphere we expected.
The pool was in poor condition, with loose and broken tiles leaving sharp shards along the floor, resulting in several injuries. The adults’ pool (over 1 metre deep) was out of order all day for unexplained reasons and was visibly dirty. Around the decking, there were protruding nails and large splinters, posing further safety hazards.
Lunch was equally disappointing and unprofessional. Drinks were overpriced at around €6 each. The calamari starter was served cold. Burgers were acceptable, but the chips were stone cold, and one was missing condiments. Children’s meals were even worse — cold pasta, and a frankfurter with rice that lacked the egg listed on the menu, with the sausage nearly frozen. We ordered three club sandwiches, which had to be returned multiple times as they were consistently served cold. One even came back with bite marks and chunks missing (certainly not from us). The first batch was burnt, with the blackened side hidden face-down on the plate. The bread served at the start was stale and inedible.
In total, we ordered nine meals but were only able to eat four. Despite this, the bill still came to €140 (which we were told should have been around €350). Attempts to negotiate a reduction were met without understanding or resolution.
Other overpriced disappointments included €5 for a single scoop of unpleasant ice cream and €7 for a Magnum. The three small inflatable slides in the pool cost €50 per person per day, blocking off half of the pool to those not paying for them.
Finally, we witnessed inappropriate behaviour among staff — one waiter was publicly shouted at by another worker simply for pouring a glass of wine before finishing.
Overall, this was a deeply unpleasant experience. The combination of poor maintenance, safety hazards, overpriced and substandard food, and unprofessional service makes it impossible for me to recommend Trocadero Sotogrande to anyone. We left feeling thoroughly let down and out of...
Read moreHad dinner on 12.09.2025 Service was very slow despite the restaurant being back to normal occupancy after the summer. We ordered starters, the croquetas de jamon were melting away, it was not possible to grab them without them falling back to the plate. The patatas bravas lacked the spicy sauce they usually put on top and the jamon was very scarce (same as the alioli). The only good entry was the uramaki. Then on to the main course, the young guy “cleaning” our not so fresh, - as stated by the waitress - lubina en sal for almost 70€ did a terrible job and my daughter and me ended up with bones stuck in our throats and less meat on our plates than usual, veggies were soggy and tasteless. The “cherry on the cake” was the only vegetarian option they had (pasta with burrata) with absolutely no taste whatsoever. When I went to let them know it was not edible because they would not approach the table in ages they offered to take it out of the check. They also said “I’ll be back with the menu in case your son wants to order something else instead” - needless to say they came 20 minutes later so I just stood up and went straight to the main cashier next to the bar to pay and leave as soon as possible. The whole experience was SO bad that it was the first time that I ever left a restaurant - in any country I’ve lived and visited - without leaving a tip. I Don’t think we will be coming back. This was the 2nd time we experience a really bad trocadero, after the 1st time and after some 3 - 4 months time we gave it a chance since our friends really wanted to go, and I admit, we were surprised by a better service and food quality. Now it’s back to no-consistency, no customer orientation, no attention, no good food. There are many new options in Soto thankfully. BTW, our neighboring table also order the pasta (strict vegetarian person) and also didn't care for it -tomato sauce out of a can taste- but said it’s either this or going...
Read moreFirst we tried to book and not a single slot available. Then we got a booking by calling them. We arrived 6.30 pm and took a drink first. The cocktails full of sugar (my sex on the beach was the name) and the John lemon was simply watery (25minutes to get them) We've been told that we cannot eat outside as it's fully booked. We've been moved to our table by 7pm, all the outside tables were empty. We ordered food for our child (chicken nuggets and fries) it literally arrived within 2 minutes. That's a microwave cooking dish at 17 eur. Then we've been offered some bread. That's where the tourist trap comes. 3.5eur per piece of dry bread. And of course you will discover that when receiving your bill. Whenever you need to order anything there is 1 guy for the wine only, 1 girl for the food, ans 10 other randomly walking not able to take a si gle order but still coming to your table you don't know why. The croquetas with jamon where full of chewable fat. Then we got the risotto, it was OK. But way too salty and served/prepared on a disgusting uncleaned tray table. We had go ask them to clean prior to serve us.
When we asked for the bill we've been charged 10.5 for to chunk of dry bread. One of the waitress started to argue with me saying that everywhere in Spain you pay for bread. First of all that's not the case and if you charge for it then you mention it! She literally told me off and ran to the manager.
The manager itself was "sorry" for all what happened and removed the bread price but did not do any gesture for all of what happened and even after mentioning the we still ate inside event hough half of the outside table were still empty when we left. This restaurant wants to get the luxury clients but is not able to handle simple requests.
