Hmm, this is probably the hardest review for me to write. Why, because the Amnesia is such an iconic club, winning multiple award of being the Best Club in the World in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011, but currently the quality of this club is going massively down. My first party in Amnesia was in 2006 and since then I’ve been there more than 10 times and had there one of the best nights ever. The parties back in 2006 – 2011 were absolutely crazy, nothing to compare to what we have in current years. This review is about the current state of the club, but is based on my previous nights in Amsesia:
The good: The music quality you can hear there is still great There is also something great about the acoustic in the main room which sometimes I can’t find in other clubs Club has two rooms to choose from There are a few professional dancers inside (Note: but only in the big room) Prices for a tickets are slightly cheaper than in other Big Clubs You can buy drink packs to save money on drinks
The bad: They stopped doing shows there like: La Troya, Matinee and others. Elrow show is just an exception. They drastically reduced the numbers of professional dancers. Previously, I mean 2006 – 2013 both rooms had many dancers which was a great addition. Currently the small room doesn’t have dancers at all. They put absolutely minimum input on decorating the club for each night. Previously each night had a special, full on decoration. One night I remember they even put a miniature ship inside the club. On that ship they placed a professional dancers as well. To give you an example of what they doing now: I’ve been on opening party Paradise 19.06.2024 and the main room as a decoration had only hanging from the ceiling a few roman columns and the place where the Dj was positioned they put some roman construction around it. That’s it. That is a joke for me. The smaller room wasn’t decorated pretty much at all, except of having a picture of the sun on a few walls. That’s it. The way of how the club is currently decorated for each party is terrible. Previously most of the parties been much more sexy and some of them been even a hard core. Don’t know if this is your cup of tea, but for example most of the parties contained topless professional dancers and many of them fully naked. Now this is just a distant memory. The club feels now more like a ‘cush cow’. Maybe not as much like Hi Ibiza, but definitely the quality of the current parties are nowhere near to what this club had to offer in the past.
If you new to Amnesia you obviously didn’t experience the great quality of the parties in the past so you will have very different view of what the club has currently to offer. I just see a massive decline in the quality unfortunately and this is just a fact, not just my opinion. Obviously I don’t expect that Amnesia will continuously be the Best Club in the World but what the club currently has to offer is a massively reduced value for the clubgoer. We also need to remember that this is Ibiza, so when people go to the clubs here they don’t want to just experience the music. They expect whole experience, especially when they have to pay 60+ euro for a ticket and 15+ euro for a beer. They come to Ibiza for experience. They can listen good music outside Ibiza too, but the experience should be unique to Ibiza and Amnesia and many other clubs failing to deliver that. When I’ve been on Paradise opening party in general I had a great moments too I have to say, so I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy at all, but I had a feeling that I’ve paid for a luxury car but I was given a regular one if you know what I mean. In other words, I’ve paid 65 euros for Paradise opening party but considering of what club had to offer, the ticket for this party should cost about 35 euro. So it is a really shame that Amnesia as a iconic club with such a great history doesn’t offer those great...
Read moreI was never so appalled at an established in as far back as I could remember. We came here on Sunday, July 14, 2013, and attended the "Espuma" foam party. Simply put, there was no foam. It was a ploy to get people in.
I paid a ton of money and reserved tickets beforehand, and my wife and I made the trip to Ibiza in order to attend one of these crazy parties. We showed-up to an empty room with female gogo dancers entertaining a crowd of 20.
After we found out that there was another room, we saw that there were a good thousand or so people in that other room watching a concert of cover songs. The performances were just okay. Sometimes they had more gogo dancers go on stage, but all they new how to do was pose. None of them could dance. Lighting effects were fantastic, but couldn't make up for the fact that we were board and that only half the crowd was into it.
We went into the other room and bought a 15Euro beer (GEEZ!) and then I asked the bartender where the foam was. She said that they would only shoot it once at 6AM. I gasped. I then proceeded to ask one of the bouncers at the front, who said 5AM. Both me and my wife were horrified that we would have to put up with cruddy performances all night to get to the foam part. Worse still, we couldn't stay because we had to sleep before our flight out the next morning.
We stayed until almost 3:45AM, at which point we proceeded to exit and I complained to the skinnier taller guy with a crew-cut about the lack of foam. I asked why would they advertise a foam party and not hold foam at least a few times a night? I told him we reserved this party for the foam and came to Ibiza for it, and now we had to leave and got nothing. He said that it was my responsibility to call the club and confirm when they planned to launch foam. I told him that if they weren't going to hold a foam party, then they should advertise it as such. Or at least, their flyers could stipulate that foam would be at the end of the night. At least if that was communicated, my wife and I would have slept early and come later, and gone back to the hotel and right to the airport after. He tried to pin the blame on the people who attended the party, saying we should have anticipated that a foam party means it isn't a foam party except at the end of the night. We left in disgust, and the guy didn't care the slightest.
What a complete moron. Ask yourselves, please...How many of you attending a foam party would expect foam for some extended amount of time during when the most people are at the club? And how many of you would think it your responsibility to find out the "foam schedule" from the club on an international trip? This place is a sham, and that guy was a disgrace to their staff.
I would never in my life go back to this horrible place that ruined the last day of our vacation, and I will do everything I can to warn everybody about their false advertisements and lack of care for their customers. They just want to rob you of your money. ...
Read moreComing here after 9 years was an absolute disappointment! Last time I was at Amnesia in 2016, I remember as one of the best nights of my life. So I have had huge expectations because club meant to involve and get better right?! This time around I went to see Ben Hemsley - to be honest Ben played really good set, I really enjoyed the music. But the club? The production? What the hell happened to Amnesia?! First of all there was no big smoke (Megatron) used even once during whole night - last year in 2024 for Sonny Fodera that was still in place which was also during Monday Presents. Instead the installed small smoke machines below roof which gives barely any smoke - Amnesia was known for this for years to deliver those special effects that adds cherry on the top, that makes you wanna come back, you know a wow factory. Instead they have made this club basic - like any other clubs you can go but here you will pay much much more. The lighting was minimal, there was no suprises during night, just music. They installed those led screen which to be fair every club use them these days so that is ok but nothing special about it. The wall behind the DJ would look better if it was black not white, because it looks like church. There was no fire shots or other pyrotechnics that I remember from 2016. I had hopes that this night would be better than UNVRS but Amnesia is definitely not the club to go these days. Back in April I couldn’t decide if I should go to Pacha for Sonny Fodera or Ben Hemsley at Amnesia. Now I know I choose wrong club (nothing wrong with the DJ) and Pacha offers cheaper drinks and tickets. I think those times of good nights at Amnesia have gone, there are no unexpected moments that people could experience back in the day. Amnesia has become like any other club where you can come to dance and listen to music but they are still charging €50 for tickets and €22 for whisky and coke. I really wanted this night to be unforgettable - that was...
