We were staying at the Hotel Venture in Sant Cugat just off the C-16 Autopista, and looking for somewhere to eat, a little earlier than the regular 20.30 Spanish mealtime. Less than 200 mtrs from the hotel (turn left out of the front door up the Av. de Rius I Taulet,) we came the Mercantic Antique and Vintage Arts Market, which also includes food outlets. Intrigued we went up the steps and came across Restaurant Greta. It was 18.30 and they were open for food. We went in and were made extremely welcome. Greta is a Vegan restaurant. We are not vegans, but we had, probably the best meal so far in our 3-week road trip around northern Spain. The food was absolutely delicious, the service impeccable and friendly, and the price not bad at all. Also a great atmosphere. Not being vegans, we had every dish explained to us, and our taste buds sizzled with delight. The flavours were awesome. If you are ever in the Barcelona area with a car, look to book a hotel in the Sant Cugat area. Not only the hotels cheaper, but you stay outside the Barcelona Low Emission Zone (100 Euro fine), and it is only 25 minutes on the train into Placa de Catalunya. Then go and eat at Restaurant Greta. You will not regret it, I promise you - especially if you have never tried...
Read moreBest vegan restaurant and food experience in Barcelona! Hidden gem in Sant Cugat del Valles, 25-30 minutes North West of Barcelona city. The staff is exceptional, well-versed in the menu, courteous, and caring for customers.
We always go for the teriyaki cauliflower wings, bravas, nachos, and baba ghanoush. Newest on the menu is the rosti. Also a must-have! For dessert, we like the truffles. Matcha in ground medjool dates, and orange peel mixed with ground medjool dates. The menu specialties also have a seasonal focus on ingredients.
Try their red fruit komboocha and their fresh lime lemonade made in-house.
🌱 Finally, my favourite part is this place has a fresh take on vegan food. It’s not about making vegan food look and taste like regular non-vegan dishes. It’s about making vegan food that’s delicious...
Read moreThe place is lovely, one of the nicest places in Sant Cugat, with no cars and in the middle of Mercantic. The food was original and creative, perfectly presented and served. I’m not a vegetarian/vegan but I really enjoyed it. I will not be going back, however, as it’s one of the biggest ripoffs I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve lived in Sant Cugat for nearly 40 years…). Two normal meals (no meat, fish, wine or seafood) should NEVER add up to €74 (tip not included)… Also, they “don’t do bread”, and they couldn’t even produce a proper receipt/invoice. Very unimpressed, keep clear of it unless you like paying double what you should just because it’s...
