Roca y Mar — Restaurant in Sant Joan de Labritja

One of 2 available options on this beautiful, but very crowded beach. All started off very well with friendly, unrushed service. We ordered wine and water and after 20 minutes my husband ordered a starter of prawns pil-pil and we both ordered some fish for our main. About 10 minutes later the food arrived- all together!!! We said that as we ordered a “starter” (clue us in there!) and we wanted that before our main course. They then took the fish away and my husband ate his starter (which was a bit bland). After 15 minutes the starter plate was removed and they immediately brought our fish back-which was cold as it had just been sent back to the kitchen . We complained and they took it away. 5 minutes later back it came- so fresh fries but the fish had not been freshly cooked- just the original fish probably re fried for a few minutes to heat up. The monk fish was dry and tasteless. The waiter got grumpy and claimed it was because it was Sunday- but the restaurant was half empty at the time as it was only around 6.30. First of all, these people are extremely disorganized. The older lady waiting tables didn’t want us to sit because the table had a reservation for 9pm even tho it was 7pm. The younger girl serving cocktails was super nice spoke to her and we sat. The older lady came over to make sure we were going to be done before 9pm and we sat there for 30 minutes while she completely ignored us. We ended up leaving and the younger girl felt bad but she couldn’t do anything about the server taking our Order. She didn’t even bring us menus. If I come back will not spend a dime in that place. A seagull attacked us and our food, the beer was spilt all over the table and the dishes. All they did is replace our 4 croquettes, not even the beer, no price reduction. In the end, we didn‘t eat our food which had on top even a hair inside and they made us feel bad that we were scared after the reaction. It was not there fault and we could have complained more, but that’s not our style, still I expect some sort of reaction, the absolute minimum would have been a new beer.
