I’d like to start with the fact that my home town of Washington DC, USA, boats a whopping 23 Michelin starred joints. I have been to 22 of them and enjoyed them all. I would put Clementine’s Chicken Tikka, Duck Roll and Cheesecake dessert up against any of them and call it an even bet. I don’t know who owns this place but kudos to them for a job well done. I did meet the chef on my way out of the rest room- a lovely, non pretentious normal guy who seemed genuinely flattered by the gushing compliments. The two servers, who, I can assure you after eating for almost a decade in horrid restaurant after restaurant in Menorca, are literally by far the most amazing servers on this island. I believe at one point while spooning in the last bite of “cheesecake” topped with tart, fresh passion fruit and strawberries that had actual flavor and texture, I said something along the lines of wanting to be buried with one of those cheesecake desserts as my last meal. Seriously.
The ceviche was good-the tuna could have been more precisely cubed and colder and the red onions should be more finely sliced. The chicken bang bang didn’t posses any bang at all but that could be easily solved with a dash of tamari or pinch of salt and something spicy. Both dishes though, were still miles better than anything similarly named I’ve eaten on this island. The crispy duck rolls were perfectly balanced-greasy like duck should be, but refreshed with microgreens that I’d bet were grown somewhere very nearby. The chicken tikka masala spice combo was a refreshing moment that reminded me of how much I miss flavor when I’m spending time here-not a knock on a place I love dearly but a knock on the (sorry) boring Spanish palette of excessive olive oil, complete lack of flavor and fussy food combinations that wouldn’t hit if they were being served to a group of starving prisoners. The chicken was tender and clearly fresh and local. Don’t miss the Raita option as a side to the Tikka because you’d be missing out on the salt to your pepper, the yin to your yang, the mo to your jo. The profiteroles weren’t bad. The chocolate was delish and I’d elevate them from a 6 to a 9.5 if only the balls were crispy-like dem balls should be. If you like fresh fruit, the pineapple rum dessert has a fresh minty herb crunch not to be missed along side the clementine sorbet. I hesitate to gush further only out of fear we won’t be able to score a table ever again. Bottom line: if you consider yourself a foodie, go and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re boring and like your potatoes boiled without any spices and your fish bathing in Spanish olive oil, don’t go because you’ll be taking a reservation away from someone who appreciates a true...

We were staying in Binibequer and went through Sant Lluis many times. It’s a beautiful small town with a mix of classic historical Menorca and extremely contemporary culture. I was in the town early one morning and had a look at the menu outside and was intrigued as it’s really uncommon for this part of Menorca - locally sourced fish and meats but with an Asian twist.
After eating at various ‘must do’ places inc the Hauser & Wirth Cantina restaurant , Clementina was/is far and away the best food we had. We ordered various sharing plates, the highlights being the Tuna Tataki, Bang Bang Chicken their own delicious take on duck pancakes. Everything was bursting with thoughtfulness and freshness.
The wine selection looked great but I only had a couple of glasses - the house rose and red both impressed more than their price suggested.
All in all I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s managed to get the balance of personable service, authentic and genuinely great food and simple but charming atmosphere absolutely spot on.
Worth mentioning… My kids are all in their teens and aside from keeping them off their phones, not too much bother although there was a table with lots of younger children behind us and my heart went out to them having the juggle to keep toddlers/6/7yr olds happy whilst enjoying their dinner and the staff could not have been kinder and more understanding. Massive plus points!
Just all round great, great, great. Thank you...
Read moreHad high expectations for this place, unfortunately it did not live up to them. Far from anything with a Michelin star, as some reviews suggest. Each dish had some good parts, but they just didn't work together. The watermelon was tasteless, the crispy part of the shrimp dish was basically non-existent, the aubergine dish was maybe 20% aubergine and the rest was a ratatouille style sauce with bell peppers (which I hate and would not have ordered had I known). In fact, most of the dishes had lots (too much!) stuff in them that is not mentioned in the menu, and the main ingredient was not the centre of the dish. Instead of putting 6 mediocre dishes on a dessert plate, I'd suggest focusing on one or two and making them great. Like the basil crunch, that was sooo good, why spoil it by adding a million other tastes. The service was good, but I didn't appreciate getting charged 4,50 for a bottle of water I never ordered and assumed was filtered from the tap (aka free). Overall just too pricey for...
