Piece of advice: if you are a foreigner make sure you book the table and you are on time if you ever want to eat there!
I’m not sure if the rules are set up by the owner or by the manager of the place but she, the manager had an absolute disrespectful attitude towards me and my company every single time I came in since June 2025. (3 times in a row)
First time, at the beginning of June when they didn’t have the sunbeds yet, I had a table reservation for lunch, but because we were late 30 min I called and let them know we would arrive late. She ( the manager) cancelled our reservation, we arrived at the place, waited another hour for another table while staying at the small chairs in front of the stairs and drunk something. When we finally got a table, we left occupied the 2 small chairs from the sand. While we were eating, she came to ask us to take our stuff from those chairs as we were keeping them occupied without consumation and apparently there were ppl waiting in line to take them….there was no one waiting and I asked her for 2 glasses of wine or something to consume if that’s the problem. She answered: “we don’t do like this here”. Long story short, we had to finish food in 5 min and go back to the sand chairs, cause they don’t allow you to spend whole day at the restaurant table either.
For the last 2 visits, I paid the sunbeds but I didn’t get a table, when I asked her politely to add us on a waiting list for a table, she said there is no no place or waiting list. I have to mention, today we were lucky we got a table after more than 30 min waiting, even though there were free tables for more than one hour. She prefers to keep the tables empty and ppl that paid for sunbeds ( not ppl from the beach) to just keep waiting for a table.
I’m not sure if is an attitude towards foreigners or in general, or maybe just towards me, because I noticed the staff is way more nicer with local ppl.
On top of all these, I do speak Spanish and all my conversations with her and with the staff were in Spanish, no reason to say there was a misunderstanding. lived in Spain for 10 years and I’ve never been treated by any place in this manner, not even in Barcelona.
So, I can say after 3 times visiting this place in the last month, even though I really like the place I cannot deal with such a disrespectful manager and definitely is not a place to recommend or bring...
Read moreWhile vacationing in Tarifa for two weeks, I decided to check out Waikiki Beach, a very popular restaurant and bar set directly on the sands of Playa de Los Lances and within easy walking distance from the old part of Tarifa.
I had not planned to eat on today's visit bit merely wanted to look at the inside and see its menu. I walked along a wooden ramp walkway and immediately noticed that almost all the tables were occupied.
Waikiki Beach is too noisy for my taste, and clearly this place is a place to see and be seen.
Hamburgers with French fries are about 12 Euros, which is on the expensive side and the menu said there were also "mini-burgers". Cocktails or Mojitos are about 6 Euros.
Bring plenty of cash if you decide to eat here. The views of the ocean through huge open-air plate glass windows are spectacular, and it is wonderful to be directly on the beach with the Strait of Gibraltar and North Africa in the distance.
While the beach and ocean views are great, do not expect to have peace and quiet in this popular but noisy and overly-crowded beach bar...
Read moreI walked into the restaurant 30 mins ago and I asked in English if they had a table available for 3 guests. I was told by one of the staff members that everything was reserved so I asked if they had a table available for later or even tomorrow and she said no. As I was walking away a family of 3 walked in and asked if they had a table for 3 in Spanish. I speak fluent Spanish. She asked them if they had a reservation and they said no. She told them let me see if I can find you anything and sure enough. She found them a table immediately! I was left stunned. I cannot believe this happened right infront of me. So now I am wondering how does the restaurant determine who gets a table and who does not? I completely understand if everything is reserved ahead. But this was absolutely...
