Santai Tarifa — Restaurant in Tarifa

First of all, the food was AMAZING. I’m an Asian girl so I really enjoyed the Asian touch mixed with the Spanish food. My favorite was the tuna brioche, octopus & zucchini. And even the regular patatas bravas you can get anywhere, tastes SO SO good! The best.. literally! They use a lot of local stuff and drinks which I really love.

Second.. the owner Alfonso & his staff were just amazing and lovely. I surprised my boyfriend with a birthday dinner with his friends. We were in total with 19 people. Days before, Alfonso helped me creating a menu for our guests. He was so helpful when I had some questions. He really was thinking for me and our guests. All of our guests were giving me compliments for choosing this place as the food was so good. As we all live in Marbella and go to Tarifa quite often I wanted to choose for a different restaurant no one has been before. This is absolute our new favorite! (I’m quite sure I’m talking for my guests too)

When we left the owner gave my boyfriend a local wine bottle as a present. So thoughtful, so nice!

The chef of the kitchen makes miracles amazing food, but the SERVICE is TERRIBLE. The first time, I was here slightly earlier in the evening, while the restaurant is still not overcrowded, expecting to have better service. Apparently, in this restaurant, they have "not to serve wine" politics. Let's kill deep wine traditions and even basic etiquette! The waiter just dropped the bottle of wine on the table. We asked her to pour some wine for us, unswer was cold and unprofessional what you cannot pour the wine for yourself? I'm not going to do that. We have restaurant politics not to serve wine. We were only 2 people in the whole restaurant. Explanation, why for this politics is applied here, unswer was - because of a lot of people... doesn't make sense when we are sitting just 2 of us. I never saw in my life even really busy restaurant or overcrowded bar where is not served first glass of wine, I don't even speak about...

What a fantastic culinary experience at Santai Tarifa!

We had the tuna steak and the beetroot tartare, both dishes were absolutely brilliant. The flavors were perfectly balanced and clearly prepared with great care and skill. A true treat for the taste buds.

The staff also deserves a compliment: friendly, helpful, and they spoke excellent English, which made the experience even more pleasant.
