I am extremely disappointed and infuriated with my recent experience. First and foremost, let's talk about the blatant lie that the waiter told us. We were assured that there would be enough food to satisfy our hunger, but that turned out to be a complete fabrication. Imagine our frustration when we realized that there wasn't even close to enough food for us. It's incredibly unprofessional and downright disrespectful to make false promises like that. To make matters worse, the waitress displayed a shocking level of indifference and apathy towards our needs. I looked her directly in the eye, practically begging for her attention, but she simply ignored me. How can anyone justify such rude behavior in the service industry? It's beyond comprehension. Now, let's address the food itself. While it was decent, it certainly didn't live up to the hype. I expected to be blown away by the flavors and presentation, but instead, I was met with mediocrity. The dishes were good, but far from amazing. When you pay a premium price at a supposedly renowned restaurant, you expect nothing short of culinary excellence. I am puzzled on how did they get a Michelin recommendation. The atmosphere was yet another disappointment. I had high hopes for a picturesque seaside ambiance, but instead, I was greeted with a lackluster setting. The decor was outdated, and the overall vibe was uninspiring. It felt like the management didn't put any effort into creating a memorable dining experience. To add insult to injury, there was no menu available for us to peruse for a solid 10 minutes. That might not seem like much, but when you're hungry and eagerly waiting to make your selection, every second counts. It's basic restaurant etiquette to have menus readily available, and their failure to do so only highlights their incompetence. What truly sealed the deal for me was the abysmal service throughout the evening. It was painfully slow, and our concerns were met with indifference. I voiced my disappointment to the staff, hoping that something would be done to rectify the situation, but to my dismay, nothing was done whatsoever. It's disheartening to see such a lack of accountability and customer care. Overall, my experience at El Risco was nothing short of a disaster. The false promises, lack of attention from the staff, underwhelming food, subpar atmosphere, and overall poor service left a bitter taste in my mouth. I strongly advise against wasting your time and money at this establishment. Save yourself the frustration and find a restaurant that actually values...

It was very disappointing because the food was nowhere where it needed to be for the price that cost.

We were there four years ago and it was stunning: the service, the fine food, the spectacular views and place.

Our expectations were quite high for that reason, and I didn't want to trust the negativity on some of the latest reviews, but sadly I think there is some truth from them. It feels like the chef has changed and you notice it.

Let me elaborate on the pros and cons:

Positive: the service and views. Service: friendly, attentive and accessible; they spoke great English. Views: Famara sea and mountains which are amazing.

Negative: when you read the menu it feels elaborate and you expect fine dining. You don't expect something similar to what you would get in many other places on the island, and with very little care in the way it is served or the quality that it has. Just some examples:

We ordered some tomato salad that was meant to include strawberries and leaves - no strawberries at sight; the tomatoes were tasteless and sadly didn't have the fine touch that you would want.

The fish said on the menu that it was in 'adobo citrico' (or citrus marinated ). It came just fried, no citric flavour whatsoever and a piece of lemon next to it. Very disappointed with the flavour and extra painful since you needed to remove all the bones; this is similar to what you do when ordering in other beach restaurants where you pay maybe half of it.

Artisan chocolate ice cream. We expected something much more special. It felt like regular supermarket ice cream.

Also, the table clothes would benefit from an update.

I'm sorry to be negative, but knowing the legacy that the place has from Cesar Manrique, and the Michelin reputation it would be amazing to get better.

(Thanks...

Positive: beautiful location, nice interior and great wine list.

Negative: Awful service

• we were “welcomed” by a rude waitress at the bar who laughed at me when I said that I have a reservation and murmured “ yeah so what is the name”. Forgive us for not announcing ourselves at the door like knights returning from war.

• we sat down in our table and after like 1 minutes and without any menus provided (QR codes) we were asked what we wanted to drink. We asked the waiter if we could see the menus first and he almost sighted at us and told us another colleague will bring it to us.

• Finally after about 20-30 min the menus (QR codes) arrived. Our waiter announced the specials so fast that we understood absolutely nothing. Later on when we asked him to repeat them and some quick advice, he showed zero interest for us.

• Eventually and one hour after we arrived we started eating.

• Starter (chipirones) was served cold but we ate them and they were just ok. • Crepe was a block of bechamel (ingredient not listed in the menu) so if you want a gluten bomb by all means order this. • Fish was fine. We probably didn’t order their best one. I would have love more guidance and help from the waiter when ordering.

We left really disappointed and left zero tips. Really unwelcoming restaurant although we noticed the table next to us (regular customers by the sound of it) were getting really nice service so we didn’t understand why we...

We have travelled extensively on Lanzarote, over the course of many visits. This is the best restaurant we've found on the island. Not very cheap, but great value for money and a superb location. We will go back again, as soon as we're able... 30.03.2022: So we finally managed to get back to the Island and booked a table at El Risco. This was the firstnpart of the experience and was very professional and easy: online booking now, followed by an email confirmation of the enquiry, then of the booking itself. Apart from the fact that the food was as excellent as last time, what really stood out on this visit was the charm of the waiting staff. I‘m not sure whether we missed them first time around, but there were Manrique works on the walls, adding to the authentic atmosphere. The presentation remains superb and we felt that the price level was no longer high, compred to other places on Lanzarote. All in all, another great experience and we will definitely be back a thrid time.

Really disappointing. Was excited to try this place because it was on the “Michelin Guide” and was meant to be one of the culinary highlights of our trip. We took the oven baked fish as a main for 2 people and found that the fish tasted off/very fishy. (This came after being in Lanzarote for one week and eating fish every day). Rather than apologising - the waiter sarcastically said that it was our taste issue and that “fish tastes like fish”. It was the first time I was unable to eat a meal and despite leaving most of it on the plate we were still charged for it on the bill. Regardless on who was right or wrong the service offered is not up to standard and there are better options on the island for fresh seafood.
