This restaurant boasts about it being an authentic Italian/Sicilian eatery, using only authentic ingredients. Having wanted to go and try this restaurant out for a while we decided to go this week, we went early and we were greeted very warmly by the member of staff who quickly provided us with menus and served us our drinks. The menu choice wasn't massive however for me that shows that limited choices can be met with much fresher ingredients and most ingredients can be interchange between one dish and another so nothing should be hanging about or lying around in fridges and freezers. Although I enjoyed the full experience as a pleasurable place to eat and the staff were good, unfortunately that's where it stops being an Italian authentic restaurant, and only in its description makes it sound authentic? In reality it's 50% Italian only for its ambience. After studying the impressive menu of pizzas and a few pasta dishes I was met with rather confusing other dishes i.e. steaks & chips, Kebabs, Burgers and strangely enough Swedish meatballs? now as it's boasts that is a traditional Italian Sicilian restaurant why would you advertise Swedish meatballs instead of the traditional Italian meatball called Polpette made with a blend of minced pork and beef. My attention was drawn to the Pizza Carnivora which described its main topping as using true genuine Italian sausage also calling its primary ingredient on the menu by its correct name salsicha "although not spelt correctly Sicilian/Italian sausage is called salsiccia" which is made from course ground pork with fennel fine, chopped red pepper, herbs and sometimes variant of pine nuts, so as I was brought up in a Sicilian Italian family with a culinary background this I had to have. So happily I engaged in a specific conversation with the server regarding the authentic ingredients used on the pizza Carnivora & assures me that the sausage was 100% Italian Salsiccia , with this assurance I was convinced in ordering that particular pizza. When the food arrived, it looked good & tasted ok but that is where the problem started. It had nothing in it whatsoever as described regarding the all important sausage and its authentic flavours "remember "that is what convinced me that it was true Italian sausage". The actual sausage on the pizza was in fact very close to finely diced frankfurter or smoked Polish kielbasa sausage. This for me was most disappointing as it tasted just like any usual none Italian regular pizza with a Bolognese type sauce. Sadly I was extremely let down as it was not as promoted or advertised similarly to the other dish we ordered. I would mark this restaurant as 50% Italian in ambience only and 50% as a fusion fast food establishment. In summary a shall certainly go back again with a better understanding...
Read moreWe recently used Siciliana as a family of 4. The drinks selection was great and food menu is small but this is a good thing as what they do produce is of quality. The garlic bread is mozzerela and garlic stuffed into a calzone bread. Amazing. Bolognese was well received although the sauce could be less watery, it was tasty and filling. The chicken souvlaki was great, fresh and marinade was excellent. I’d recommend more chicken and more veg on there. I would also encourage side order offerings of vegetables for those that don’t like salads. It’s a theme across all restaurants though so nothing ground breaking. All in all, great service, lovely restaurant and pizzas are stone baked with a lovely base and crispy edges. Excellent! We do recommend here. Give it a try if you are local the owner is a really very lovely and pleasant chap that takes the time to get to know you and that you are happy with the food. Pride...
Read moreWe are here tonight with our son and daughter in law. We have eaten here many times before, and told them it was the best pizza we had ever eaten. A big statement to make, however it did not disappoint, and they both agreed that it was. Fresh made, delicious, authentic, thin crust, fabulous toppings and flavour. We all had different pizzas, and swapped with each other to try them all. I had the Crazy chicken, lovely sauce, tender chicken, and just enough heat. The service is always spot on, friendly, welcoming and chatty. Price range is such good value for money, and you would be hard pressed to find the full package, like you do here. We will be back, again and again, and will keep recommending to family...
