This was phenomenal and unexpected!
New since October 2023 and open on Sundays, we were delighted to grab a quick bite before bed right when they opened for dinner at 20:00, with no reservation we walked in and were seated quickly with direct attention from the owner himself. He talked us through the menu in English (🥹) so we didn't miss anything and made sure all of the food was perfect. Incredible ingredients and many of the staff from Mexico make this taco spot authentic.
Everything we ate was awesome- house made guacamole with chicharrons to start, and then we each enjoyed the Classic tacos (3 per portion) sampling all of the meat-filled tortillas with delicious salsas. We finished with a shared slice of Tres Leches cake. The food portions were perfect; we left feeling satisfied and happy with our choices. Passing through Unquera on the Camino del Norte hike, we stuck to bubbly waters wishing we could have enjoyed a Mexican tequila or other tasty beverage- our only regret. Our bill was just a hair over 40€, which we thought was appropriate for the quality ingredients, food portions and level of service. Food was prompt but not rushed, that Goldilocks perfection. Thanks for a great meal. Wishing the Tacos Point team much...
Read moreThis restaurant must not be missed if you are anywhere near Unquera. I walked past Tacos Point on my way to the Hostal Rio Deva, during day 3 of the Camino de Santiago. Initially I thought it may be a cool place to eat. We looked at the menu and could see that there was a range of really authentic Mexican dishes, the tacos, quesadillas and salsas, as well as the Mezcal liquor. When we ordered the waiters were absolutely amazing. Julio and Maria took all the time in the world to explain all of the questions we had about the ingredients and about Mexican cuisine. Then they were happy to accommodate our off menu request for another vegan taco. The food was PHENOMENAL!! This is literally the best food I have tasted outside of Mexico, and easily exceeds many of the Mexican restaurants. The Mezcal was an exquisite experience, do not leave without sampling as much of the drinks and food menu as you can stomach and afford. This restaurant is a rare gem, hidden away in the town of Unquera. The prices are so affordable that it would be a crime not to try this absolutely...
Read moreThis place is awesome! TL:DR: Give it a try, flavors are on point! Real Mexican fare! Was pleasantly surprised to find this place abroad, being from the US. Ate here a few days ago while on the Camino de Santiago, and was not disappointed. We were the only ones dining at first, followed by likely the owners friends and family, so the service was impeccable. All the hosts were excited to share the cuisine of their home country, and very pleasant to talk to. Told them I liked spice and received a potent little dish of habanero sauce, off the menu, per the recommendation of one of the guys, and it definitely hit the spot :) If you are from the US, this will taste just as one would expect. If from elsewhere, please try it, it’s authentic for sure! Seems like a newer place, I wish the team...
