The most important thing: the food is delicious, the view from the terrace is gorgeous, the service is good. Puchero y sancocho should be booked in advance. The restaurant opens not at 12, but closer to 1pm. It is worth visiting La Culata 2 at least once.
Details: It is not possible to make a reservation. You have to show up and wait. It's the 21st century in Las Palmas, but La Culata still hasn't invented reservations, so be prepared to wait for hours for a free table or come before opening time. Tricky thing! They don't open the way the schedule says..... The schedule on the door and google maps says they open at 12:00. When we tried to go into the restaurant at 12:10, we were told they were still closed and better come back an hour later. Waiting under the restaurant door is so romantic (not).
We came specifically on Sunday, the only day of the week to try sancocho. Turns out the sancocho has been gone for a couple weeks now...Life is a pain xD
We ordered ribs, chicken breast, steak, potaje, ropa vieja, grilled squid and it was delicious. I rarely say this about Canarian food, because it's specific, but it was really good! I even forgot I was standing outside the closed door of the restaurant for an hour xD
The service was on a good level. The view from the terrace on the valley and mountains, delicious food and some whiskey made my soul thaw.
I recommend the restaurant to visit, but check in advance for details on food availability and...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this place. Despite the fact that the stuff almost didn't speak English (except one guy) they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special. They even managed to give us some sightseeing tips. When they got to know that we need to drive mountainside road they immediately asked us to be careful. The view from the terrace is stunning. The food was simple but extremely tasty. I have had the best avocado of my life. The portions are really big. Very good value for money. Highly...
