O Fogon da Ría — Restaurant in Vilagarcía de Arousa

Visit is a must: just the place itself is worth the visit. Then you get the menu: we are still in Covid time so the menu is a challenge in each place. Here they keep the printed menu with plastic outside... But the menu is quite big and they split it in multiple pages...stand-alone...no numbering...so a total mess!

Anyway, once you manage to understand what is in the menu, everything is worth it. Gorgeous seefod (amazing zamburiñas)...

It is supposed to have excellent rices but I never got used to the Galician rice style. We took the one with mongfish and prawns: good taste, you feel the ingredients are good, but local preparation style does not allow to get the best of such rice.

Price is above average in Galicia, but just for the place and starters is worth it.

There are also some set menus worth to check.

Disappointing of the year. I have checked all reviews and photos of the place before to go and it sounded promising. However in reality the taste doesn’t cost this money. So design of Fogón is very authentic and cozy. Inside you may find white tablecloths and roses! (Guess it’s first time I have seen roses in the restaurant at every table). The food is fresh but average. Nothing special, nothing wow… food as food, but it’s quite expensive place to serve an average food… The service is good until it will be more then 3 tables. The waiter forgot about coffee and we were waiting for next 20 min before to remind. It difficult to believe that they forgot🤷‍♀️

I will give one more chance for summer time to be outside. But for now… no chance to call “top...

Acabamos de salir de este precioso Pazo, donde su comida sinceramente ha sido muy buena, el trato de los camareros también, con “detallito” a mis hijas pequeñas por habérselo comido todo. Hasta ahí todo perfecto. La sorpresa ha sido cuando me han traído la cuenta, nada barato, aunque puedo entender que lo que dan es calidad y lo pagas, de ahí la economía de cada uno, y veo que nos han cobrado 1,50€ por 5 personas (2 adultos y 3 niñas de 4,5 y 9 años) total 7,50€ por el pan, que en ningún momento habíamos pedido… Cuando le pregunto al encargado que me explique el coste de 5 trozos de pan por 7,50€ me dice que claro, el “detallito” (4 chucherías) para mis hijas, el servicio prestado y la terraza se cobran. Y hasta ahí lo puedo llegar a entender aunque creo que ellos ya cobran su sueldo por hacer su trabajo y encima reciben propinas, no creo que un cliente deba pagar más por eso, por el servicio de terraza vale, lo único que pido es que las cosas se digan claras y que cada uno sepa lo que va a acabar pagando para evitar sentirte estafado. Creo que mis explicaciones al encargado no le han gustado demasiado aún habiendo sido respetuosa pero como bien le he dicho, prefiero preguntar si hay algo que no me encaja y con las explicaciones pertinentes decidir si volver o no, a no decir nada y no volver ni...
