Nostro Café Costa — Restaurant in Xàbia / Jávea

I'm posting this review hoping the owners will see it and take notice. I am happy there is a real coffee shop in town that roasts their beans so I can buy fresh beans for my pour-overs at home. I also enjoy visiting the cafe to have a coffee now and then. However, for a place that takes pride in serving quality beans and even offers barista training, they need to make sure their employees are actually trained! I ordered a cafe del filtro around 1 pm and when it was brought to me it was cold and many hours old! (I did not order a "cool" or an iced coffee but a simple, black coffee). The reply I got from the staff was "well that's just how it is" When I asked when they brewed it they told me that morning....so basically they served me a not-so-fresh, cold cup of coffee that had been sitting there for several hours. No offer to brew a fresh cup. I get it, most people are probably ordering espressos and lattes, and if that's all you can do that time of day just tell me, but the attitude I received and the perplexity on their faces that I wouldn't want to drink a cold cup of coffee really surprised me. Coffee preparation and general quality has decreased... Why ?

I used to love to go and have my coffee there, the staff team was really cool, you could sense the good environment there.

Now, coffee quality isn't the same ! I can tell when the owners prepare it compared to when they're not there and it's the staff who make it.

That's my honest opinion, quality standards need to be revised and if so train the staff to do things properly.

Other than that, relation between price and quality is absolutely good...

I had a great vegan breakfast at Nostros: A delicious café con leche with oat milk, the "vegan vampire" smoothie, an avocado-hummus toast and a quinoa croissant. Unfortunately, the vegan cakes were sold out. What could be improved is the labelling of the vegan food on the menu, some of it is clearly named vegan, other items aren't. But the staff was friendly and knew about the vegan options. Everything's quite inexpensive, only the smoothie (5.50€ for 320ml) is pricey in comparison...
