We ate here 2 or 3 times with friends 6 months ago with English menus and English speaking waitresses... This time however we ate a little earlier and although the same waitresses they had apparently lost the ability to speak English or have English menus... I can only think this was an effort to make us feel uncomfortable.. As the restaurant filled with tourists those same waitresses managed to speak English to both Dutch and other English customers. surprise surprise... so when we was finally given a dessert menu we decided to abstain and have desserts elsewhere.... our custom is to normally leave a 10 euro tip... but not on this occasion so they missed out on both.... the feeling was they really didn't want us in there restaurant... which is sad.. I didn't notice any spanish in the place... so how would they survive without the foreign tourists... Its strange to alienate you main stream clients and yet maintain a business. We are looking to purchase a home locally... we will be learning the language.... we will NOT be returning to this...
Read moreWe have had a lunch at Fuego in Dena and decided to give the Javea branch a try yesterday. It is not a huge restaurant, so the three or four waitresses were able to manage the numbers of diners well. We had a faultless meal! I have never had good prawns in garlic anywhere on mainland Spain (the best being in Fuerteventura). These were perfect, lovely caramalised garlic, slivers of chilli, meaty prawns. Delicious crusty bread, too. The chips were spot on - like little scoops of potato, hot and crispy My husband had a pork burger and gave it 10/10. Lovely staff, decent house wine, great food. We do feel for the kitchen staff working in this heat and we gave them a special thank you as we left. I am sure it is really busy in July and August, but so is everywhere. It would be wise to book a table. Well done, Fuego!...
Read moreWow all I can say is we are so pleased we ignored some of the recent reviews! We started with chicken wings to join at and they where delicious. Hubby had sea bass with roasted Mediterranean veg and the most yummy fried potatoes which are unlimited. I had half bbq chicken with salad again in a delicious dressing and these dishes came with lots of sauces to try. I loved the green garlic sauce. Daughter had the cheese burger but so unlike the norm it had lots of special touches and our youngest had spaghetti bolognaise. We had the local sangria again fantastic and followed with cream brûlée with white choc and fresh fruit and hubby had adagio a coffe with liquor and ice cream. Service was great very friendly lovely waitress. We will be back during our 2 week...
