Happy Mount lived up to its glowing reviews, offering an exceptional dining experience. For just Rs 5400, we enjoyed two Cokes, two lassis, a flavorful prawn curry, and a generous portion of fish kottu—a remarkable value compared to other local establishments.

The chef/host's warmth and hospitality truly stood out. Her home-style cooking showcased fresh, high-quality ingredients, and she readily accommodated my preferences for a spicier dish without raw onions. The complimentary fruit bowl after our meal was a delightful touch, highlighting the superior taste of Sri Lankan fruits.

While the persistent flies and mosquitoes were a minor annoyance (a common issue in Sri Lanka), the host's efforts to mitigate them with a fan were greatly appreciated. It's important to note that this does not reflect on the cleanliness of the establishment; Happy Mount was impeccably clean.

After the first meal, we knew we had discovered a true gem. These glowing reviews are no coincidence! If you’re lucky enough to find yourself here alone, even better – the full attention and warmth of the owner will make you feel right at home. When we mentioned we’d come back for breakfast, the host asked if we wanted Sri Lankan style breakfasts tomorrow because, as she said, ‘I’ll need to start cooking 4 hours earlier to make it traditional.’

The whole experience was so incredible that we decided to spend both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day here. Places like this simply don’t exist anymore. Honestly, it feels embarrassing to give only 5 stars – there really should be an option...

We have just had breakfast here and can not recommend enough. Not only was the food amazing (our children have declared it’s the best they’ve had in Sri Lanka) but Kanthi and her family were so friendly and could not do enough for us. Everything was freshly cooked and the price very reasonable indeed. She even brought extra food out as the children had shared and inhaled it! Then have us more leftovers to take away.
