Balalaika Gallery Cafe — Restaurant in Western Province

On 26th September, I visited (with 2 Japanese Gentlemen) based on the positive reviews which are available on Google Maps & YouTube. The Food was tasty & the Atmosphere was amazing. But the service we received was disgusting.

We went there at 6 PM based on an early reservation & as soon as we went, we ordered the food which was selected from the given menu. Until 7:30 PM we received nothing & at 7:30 PM only one item from the ordered list was received & finally, I had to go to the kitchen at around 8 PM to see what was going on there. Because the waiter was always saying "bala bala" when we asked why the food was too late. Surprisingly, the kitchen guys replied that some food items were not available on that day due to the unavailability of those food items & it wasn't communicated to us by the waiter. Furthermore, the waiter did not communicate with the Kitchen in a proper manner about what order needed to be prioritized & the kitchen guys also did not focus on which order to cook first. Whoever comes & pressures them, they cook those food items 1st & don't have any idea about other customers who gave the order early. So if the owner of the cafe can contact me, I really appreciate it, because your staff destroyed not only the image of your cafe but most importantly, they destroyed the image of the country in front of those 2 Japanese Gentlemen. Since I was able to manage the situation, I hope they might not misunderstood this matter.

Finally my recommendation is, if you are going there, you will have to bring not only the bottle but also the food. Otherwise, you will have to wait more than 2 or 3 hours until you receive a single meal or plate which you order...

Balalaika Restaurant is an absolute gem! The aesthetic and thematic atmosphere are unmatched—it's such a cool and unique vibe that immediately makes you feel at home. The ambiance is perfect for a chill evening or even a special occasion.

The staff here are incredibly nice and welcoming. They treat you so well and ensure that you have a great experience from start to finish. The food is fantastic too—delicious, fresh, and served with a smile!

I just moved here from LA, California and found this place that I really love! I can hang out with my ffoodriends all day there if I want to. The is great and it's not expensive! There's a piano there. So my friends and I bring a guitar or ln whatever else or just ourselves and have a little party on the couches. Oh! And it's BYOB (bring your own booze) so you can really party. There's even an art gallery with some of Sri Lanka's best new...
