Our experience from Majstregården was very mixed. Lovely location, very successfully renovated and with improved opening hours. However, the service level needs to be improved. Upon arrival we had to call attention to ourselves to get noticed. After our main order, a delicious toast Skagen, and some pleasant chit-chat with the waiter we were totally forgotten by the staff! Once again, we had to go into the restaurant to ask for service since we wanted a coffee after our dinner (our first waiter, who was very friendly, had apparently gone home without informing others of our presence - we were sitting outdoors). After that, we were forgotten once again... After paying at the desk, no one said a word about "Glad midsommar" or "Welcome back", which would have been nice. Also, the new menu is nice, but some of the old, traditional items (for instance the lamb stew or the salmon) should have been kept IMHO. It might have been an off day at the restaurant, but I can only judge from what we experienced. The place has great potential, but the service needs improving. One reviewer mentioned "Stockholms-attityd" and I can agree up to a certain point. The impression was a little bit like the customer is there for the benefit of the staff, not the other...
Read moreWe bought ice cream. We had a 6 month old baby with us. We sat down in the shade behind the cafe. We were asked to leave even though we had bought ice cream from the cafe. They said it was because we sat on the ground. Since there was no seats with shade and we had a baby with us we did not see the harm in it. The staff just said “This is no place for a picnic, we must ask you to leave”. So we paid 150 SEK for ice cream but since we did not use the seats offered, we were thrown out. The ice cream was great. I find the situation ridiculous. To eat an ice cream in the heat sitting in the shade. Staying there for less than 15 minutes. The baby was not crying. It was just quietly lying in the shade.
Response: We had one blanket for the six month baby. Yes we had a stroller. We sat down at the far end of the toilet queue. Asking us to leave was unnecessary and done in a rude manner. Informing us that she had 200 paying customers in the restaurant. It would be a proper response to inform us about the inconvenience and directing us to another...
Read moreAbsolutely lovely place.
The place itself is stunning - stylishly decorated and the huge windows face the sea and the sunset. It was quite a fun experience to have dinner inside, and everybody was wearing sunglasses!
The food was lovely. We share the prawns for starters and they were perfectly smocked.
If the entrecote was good, the marinated lamb was on another level. Everything on that plate was delicious and perfectly cooked.
Desserts were also great, especially with the sun nearly setting!
The staff was friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong...
