Norrtälje's oldest cafe & bakery, 111 years in the running (2023).
Lovely atmosphere where the entire inside seating is in the style of an early 1900 century household with separate rooms with slightly different styles!
Daily freshly made loaves of bread, cakes, salads, sandwiches, barista coffee and more.
Being a semi-regular customer i can say that the quality of their produce is impressive and hard to match within at least an hour's driving distance, if not more.
The staff is very friendly, usually dressed in time-typical kitchen service outfits to match the feel of the establishment.
I'd recommend the (very generous) sandwiches that come in styles like classic Swedish "meatball sandwiches" to prawn sandwiches and many more choices available. The sandwiches are quite large but the freshness and texture of the bread makes them for an easy eat, so do not be put off by that.
That aside there is a generous selection of cakes and pastries to order.
A very kid friendly place as well, they do pancakes to order (thin, swedish-style) and there tends to be a mixed age group; very different from your large-chain style cafés.
Price-wise it is reasonable, you can expect to pay more or less the same price for lunch elsewhere albeit at a very high standard here.
For just a coffee and cake (Swedish "fika") I would rate the place quite affordable.

The food here is just quite terrifying. It scares you, with how good it actually is.
If I was Gordon Ramsay i would tell the restaurant to get out! Because they need to get out and hire more staff to expand the business in a subsancial way!

Read moreSweet little bakery in the heart of Norrtälje, with a traditional tea room style. They have an abundance of delicious treats on offer & a good variety on the lunch menu also. The grilled sandwiches are freshly prepared, enormous & delicious, & the cakes are fantastic too! Highly recommended 👌
My only grumble is that there's no baby changing facilities! They could so easily mount one on the wall...
