Vällingby gets a ramen bar! And it’s a really *good* one too. We took the Esuki special, the spicy miso and the regular miso split between two children. The portions were very generous in terms of noodles and stock, and all three bowls were heavily loaded with toppings. The special was a seafood bowl with mussels, clams, squid, baby octopus and fish cake, and the other two featured chashu pork belly that was rich, soft and delicious, having been browned on the stove. The stocks were rich, deep and tasty. We also had some crispy rather large karaage and four pan-steamed gyoza, which were good too. The restaurant had *six* people in the open kitchen, all of whom very clearly knew the ropes extremely well, and two people front of house. I can only assume in such a small restaurant that this is an introductory rather than permanent arrangement, but it all worked well, and the food arrived at our table very shortly after ordering. There’s no alcoholic drinks menu yet, but I assume the licence is on its way, and I anticipate a good beer list, given the quality of the food. Really fantastic, and a very easy five stars.

Among all the Esuki locations, I’d say this one stands out. They specialize in ramen but I went there for sushi and wow, it was one of the most fresh and highest quality I’ve come across in Stockholm! The fresh ingredients are displayed in a glass counter and always look appetizing :) The only downside is that the restaurant is quite small, approx. 3 tables and a few seatings around the bar, so it not always possible to dine in, but their takeaway holds the same quality.

I'm a big Ramen fan and this place met all my expectations. The staff were busy but still took the time to explain the differences of some of the Ramen dishes to me. I had the Miso Ramen (169 kr) - home made noodles in a miso based rich pork broth, with tender soft braised pork, boiled egg and vegetables (I asked not to have the included green onions). The food was an easy 5/5 with rich flavors, good portion size and decorated nicely. HIGHLY recommended to Ramen lovers.

I would definitely have given it 5 out of 5 stars a couple of years ago, but now it seems service, food, and the general feeling are going downhill. I've been a regular visitor at Esuki Ramen for the last 2-3 years. In the beginning, the portions were big, really delicious, and the personal service was exceptional. Now, unfortunately, it feels like both food and service have declined. The food is becoming more average; it's still good, but not as good as it was a couple of years ago. For example, skimping on half an egg for ramen feels stingy. I understand we had some "egg" problems in Sweden, but still. Overall, a really good place is taking a wrong direction! I hope it gets...
