"At first glance, the restaurant may seem simple from the outside, but its interior decor is exceptionally beautiful. You'll find yourself surrounded by Iranian ambiance with a touch of history, and you'll undoubtedly lift your phone to capture the intricately decorated walls skillfully.
As for the food, we received our order in about 10 minutes or less on a Saturday, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. We ordered "Koobideh," "Zereshk Polo with Chicken," and "Koobideh + Barg Kebab." All the dishes were excellent, but the standout was the Koobideh (grilled meat skewers). It was the most delicious grilled meat I've ever had. All the meats were cooked wonderfully, tender, of high quality, and expertly seasoned. We only wished the Barg had been seasoned with fewer spices and without curry/turmeric in its marinade!
And let's not forget the rice! It was fantastic and cooked professionally, as Iranians typically do in this field. The chicken dish was also delightful; however, Koobideh remains the best dish you'll find in this restaurant.
"The appetizer buffet wasn't particularly exciting; frankly, it looked like the salad had been sitting for a while and wasn't fresh! I only tried the soup, and I didn't like it much. It had a strange, overly sour taste, and it was filled with garlic. You could call it a grilled garlic soup – that's exactly what dominates in this soup. It might appeal to someone else!"
I loved the idea of having an Arabic-speaking waiter to welcome Arab guests and assist them in choosing dishes. It was very thoughtful.
The prices are high but acceptable given the quality of the food you'll receive. I highly...
Read moreSome 16+ years ago up until 2019, Vanak used to offer the best Persian cuisine in Stockholm. However, I can't say the same today. The decor is awkwardly ridiculous depicting the ruins of Persepolis. It's outdated and looks cheap. It lacks style and character. It's absolutely appalling. Back in the days, the quality and taste of the food would compensate for that horrendous decor. But not anymore.
We ordered Chelow Kabob koubidé, Soltani and Baghali Polo Maïché. We also had a micx of three side dishes, which were Mirza Ghasemi, Kashké Bademjun and Panir Bereshté. The kabob meat for the Barg wasn't tender and didn't taste very good. However, the Baghali Polo Maïché was excellent. The meat was tender and juicy. The sauce was delightful and the rice was heavenly.
The service was good. But overall, Vanak is not as good as it used to be. The clientele has also changed. There are very few Iranians/Persians visiting...
Read moreOne of the best restaurants in Stockholm. Everything, from the raw materials to the execution of the dish are excellent. The amount served is more than enough, something that is rare to see in Stockholm restaurants nowadays. Forget that huge plate with a small piece of meat and 3 potatoes in the middle. You get a huge plate filled with everything you'd expect from a main plate e.g. the meat, the rice/potatoes, the grilled vegetables and various accessories depending on the dish. Another important note is that Vanak IS family friendly. You won't have any problems taking your kids there to eat. There are child seats and the right attitude from the restaurang stuff.
Just two warnings: 1) Be sure to book in time if you want a better place to sit, 2) only light alchohol is served (nothing from...
