Kattholmen — Restaurant in Värmdö kommun

I had High expectations but also kind of expected a “normal nice Swedish restaurant” entering Kattholmen. As soon as I stepped in I was blown away - everything from the amazing interior that kind of reminded me of a more cool industrial Soho House (but also got the vibe of Barcelona) to the vibrant ambiance and the attention to detail. GREAT MUSIC! The night went from good to great to amazing. The friendly staff never felt stiff (more like a good friend) but where also so professional and knowledgeable. The food was above expectations, the cocktails and the bartender was refreshing and fun. The goat cheese flatbread was OMG and the salmon sashimi was so good (hate cold salmon but hey here I am can’t stop eating). Everything with this evening was just so good and I couldn’t stop talking about it with everyone that wanted to listen afterwards. We spent the afternoon at Kattholmen and had the most wonderful time! The food was fresh and delicious, and they were so accommodating for our requests. The menu is modern, diverse and the seafood was excellent quality (the best oysters I’ve eaten in Sweden so far). They had many gluten free options and even ice cream for dogs! We stayed at Kattholmen for 4 hours while we ate and drank our way through the menu. Our waiter, Desmond, had great knowledge on the food and wine. He recommended fantastic champagne, wine and whisky - and made sure the kitchen made our food gluten free. We absolutely had a 10/10 experience and we cannot fault anything. We are already looking forward to our next reservation! Also - we tried to make a reservation but they were fully booked for 2 weeks (!!!). Decent food with reasonable pricing set in a beautiful environment by the sea. The red wine braised beef cheek was very tender and the flavors were totally soaked into every bite of the dish. The grilled vegetables on top of the meat added freshness and sweetness to the dish. Even the side salad was not a boring one, they definitely put mind into preparing it.
