Incredibly disappointed in this place.

The service was effectively, non existent, if we didn’t get up and walk over to the the “head” waiter or whatever he was called or the assistant waitress, 8 times out of 10, nothing would have happened, from ordering to topping up our wine etc. INCLUDING trying to return a meal that was incredibly burnt...I have no idea how any professional restaurant staffer could have put that meal down in front of a customer!

Eventually a replacement meal was forthcoming but with only the slightest acknowledgment...and it didn’t even appear to be prioritised in the kitchen...numerous meals for other tables that arrived after our meal was returned, appeared before this relatively simple dish of Rosti and Bratwurst reappeared, by which point, the other 4 people at our table had finished their meals.

I had a moderately similar service, albeit it not as bad, experience at this establishment a few years back, where my Swiss local friends insisted it was just the head waiters quirky nature.

Downright rude and unprofessional if you ask me now on all levels, wait staff and kitchen.

And to be clear there was no language barrier, as some in our party were...

5 Star Location -1 for terrible service -1 for consistently bad food

This restaurant is in a fantastic location. Right in the middle of Altstätten, it’s so nice to grab a meal sitting outside or even inside, which is decorated really nicely.

Unfortunately, the service has been terrible every time we go. It’s either the waiters that can’t get an order right, or just never come to your table, or the boss that screams very degrading things at his staff. It’s just not an atmosphere that you want during a meal.

Regarding food, the menu is standard modern Swiss. Rösti, different meats and steaks and of course, salads. This is easy food and unfortunately, I have never had it taste good. The Rösti are almost always burned or swimming in MSG sauce, the chicken is cooked super dry, and for the prices they charge the food is just always... underwhelming.

Underwhelming is the best description of this place. It’s a bummer because the potential is enormous. If you come, come for the view and the location, but be prepared to pay a lot of money for something you can cook...

Wir waren heute Abend zu Zweit spontan in diesem Restaurant. Unserer Meinung nach ist 3/4 des Servicepersonal nicht sehr kompetent, einige verstehen nicht mal richtiges Deutsch und haben teilweise bis zu 3 mal nachgefragt was wir bestellt haben. Nachdem unsere Vorspeise abgeräumt wurde kam nach 15 Minuten die Junge Dame die unser Essen aufgenommen hat und fragte uns ( als wir auf unseren Hauptgang warteten ) ob wir noch einen Dessert wollen und war sehr überrascht das wir noch Essen bekommen sollten. Als wir dann mit dem Essen fertig waren ist meine Begleitung schon mal rausgegangen und ich habe nochmals weitere 15 Minuten gewartet bis Jemand unsere Teller abräumt und ich bezahlen kann während die junge Dame ungefähr schon 5 mal an unserem Tisch vorbeigelaufen ist und sich irgendwann 2 Tische neben uns gesetzt hat um Servietten zu falten. Als ich mich gemolden habe das ich gerne bezahlen würde hat mir eine weitere Dame noch die Kerze auf unserem Tisch angezündet und mich recht unhöflich darauf hingewiesen das ich vorne an der Kasse bezahlen soll. Alles in Allem war unser Besuch dort nicht sehr empfehlenswert, wir müssen aber der Lehrtochter Elvira R. im 1. Lehrjahr ein Grosses Kompliment machen. Sie hat uns neben allen anderen sehr kompetent bedient und schlussendlich auch dafür gesort das wir unseren Hauptgang...
