Rössli — Restaurant in Amden

I discovered this restaurant two years ago and it was a good dinner. This year's visit was equally enjoyable. Under a new management team, Rössli underwent some refurbishment, resulting in a much brighter and inviting dining room. The location is superb, boasting fantastic views on the Glarner Alps. ||On this quiet Sunday evening, the manager took care of the service by herself: friendly and efficient. Although I was the only guest, the chef did not come out of the kitchen to greet me - slightly disappointing.||||The menu is Swiss traditional, with focus on fresh and regional produce.||As starter I had a salad with boiled Galloway beef - fresh and very tasty. As main course I chose the veal saltimbocca. This proved a very good choice, but the dish presentation must be slightly improved. On the side the risotto was delicious. We stopped for an ice cream after our hike, and ended up staying for a meal. Food was so tasty - shrimp and strawberry salad was a highlight! Flammkuchen could use more toppings, but I did order mine without onions so it's my bad. ;)

Service was well above Swiss standards. Completely different kind of welcome compared to the restaurant across the street. Here they brought a water dish for the dog. Would've brought a high chair for baby if he was bigger. Super friendly with big smiles. And even gave us moms roses on the way out!

The bathroom was the best stocked bathroom I've seen for baby changing - had diapers, wipes, clean changing mats, tiny trash bags and more for a very clean change.

Absolutely perfect! We booked a room for three nights to enjoy some time in the Swiss Alps and this was the perfect hotel for us to stay - I can’t recommend it enough. The room was clean and very well built with high quality materials. The parking was very convenient. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The owner (I assume he was the owner) was very kind - he took care to always have a high chair at our table ready for our son, he was extremely attentive, and gave us good recommendations and feedback for how to spend our time. And the location was wonderful / a beautiful view right from the hotel, right next to a small grocery store, and a mere 200 meter walk to a ski lift that leads to hiking trails.
