Espace Weisshorn — Restaurant in Anniviers

My son and I are in Zinal by chance having abandoned our hike after day one (too long a story) and are we glad we did.

Zinal is a delightful Swiss town. We took the bubble up to the top station and then carried on up on foot to the peak above Weisshorn. What amazing views.

We then walked down and found ourselves in this amazing restaurant. It is beautifully designed space and you are at 2,675m. The pizzas were good and perhaps I should have had something else (but for non-Swiss everything in Switzerland is expensive) but the dessert. OMG. Apricot Brandy soufflé and rosemary infused sorbet. This was sublime and simply the best dessert I have ever had anywhere, in any restaurant regardless of stars or price. I cannot recommend it too highly.

We assumed that this is a mountain restaurant. Instead it is an exclusive restaurant which happens to be up a mountain. It seems to be bookings only, you can’t just walk up. The restaurant entrance was shrouded in black today when we arrived at 13:00. We had some terrible ‘Houmous Maison’ in the rooftop bar, in full sunlight as there are no sun shades. L'année dernière, nous avons eu un excellent déjeuner à l'Espace Weisshorn peu après l'ouverture. Le couple français gérant à l'époque s’occupait bien de ses clients offrant une excellente expérience de restauration et de service qui en valait la peine.

Aujourd'hui, nous avions de nouveau réservé pour le déjeuner, nous sommes arrivés un peu plus tôt et nous avons été bien accueillis et assis près de la fenêtre. Nous avons commandé notre nourriture, entrée et plat principal. Les entrées sont arrivées une heure plus tard, nous avons dû demander un panier de pain entre-temps. Il n'est pas venu spontanément.

Le plat principal est arrivé plus de 30 minutes après les entrées... totalement inacceptable !

Mon agneau était bon, les petites pommes de terre hachées étaient servies tièdes et le chou rôti était froid. Aussi inacceptable après une si longue attente.

Évidemment, il y avait d'autres tables autour de nous qui se plaignaient de la lenteur du service.

Du côté positif, le nouveau directeur du restaurant nous a proposé d'avoir les desserts gratuitement en compensation, mais nous avons choisi de partir sans dessert pour éviter une autre longue attente.
