Osteria Paradiso — Restaurant in Circolo della Verzasca

Great food and nice place ! The service on the other side was... strange. A customer next to us started smoking when we arrived and never stopped, after we got the starters, we asked to move to another table because it bothered us. The waiter told us "everyone can do what they want", a way to say that we might not like the smell of cigarette while eating but they don't care. We had to threaten them to leave the restaurant immediately without eating to get the permission to move to another table. (I precise in order to stay fair that the only available table outside was reserved) After moving to that other table, we never saw any waiter before the food arrived (we expected to be able to order wine), but that's not dramatic, if it was so important we would have walked inside to ask for it. In the end, the food was good, the place was nice and service seemed good even if we had a strange experience with them. That definitely shouldn't stop you from...

We had a wonderful dinner at Osteria Paradiso on a rainy Monday. The couple running Osteria Paradiso were not only friendly and spoke excellent English. They also served us one of the best meals we’ve ever had in the region. The appetiser with porcini on toasted sourdough bread was one of the best mushroom dishes ever, so deceptively simple and so flavourful. The chef, Silvan, was generous in sharing his recipe secrets and even some of his spices. Thank you! 🙏The house wine was an excellent pairing for the homemade pasta with chanterelles, the beef dish tender like butter and we only wish we could come back for the chef’s chestnut-filled raviolis later in the season. Lovely terrace with wine shading. Good red wine and just normal homemade food. The impression of the paradise was spoiled by the very pretentious boss talking to us as if he was the master of the world. He offered us the mixed salad with the mushrooms and at the end we had to pay extra for the mushrooms 5 € (not written anywhere in the menu). There is very limited choice of vegetarian dishes. The ravioli dish size for 22,50€ is literally only 6 raviolis which is definitely not sufficient. Their beer is very light and we did not especially appreciated it...overall I think that you pay a relatively high price, get a nice place for relaxing evening but the service of the boss was not...
