We visited "Marché" today, and unfortunately, our overall experience was quite disappointing.
Firstly, there was a significant language barrier; very few people spoke English, except for two kind workers, with Monika being particularly helpful. She had to act as a translator from Italian to English for us.
My wife ordered rice with vegetables, but the employee couldn't understand our request for wok-fried and prepared steamed rice instead, despite our repeated attempts to clarify. To make matters worse, the employee ignored us and served our dish to another customer, leaving us waiting for 5-10 minutes. There was no one to address our concerns.
Ultimately, my wife couldn't eat her meal as the rice was undercooked, beyond anything we've ever seen. The language barrier made this situation even more challenging.
We decided to opt for the hotel buffet, which cost 30 francs each. However, my wife couldn't find anything suitable to eat. We had to spend an additional 20-30 minutes explaining the situation to the staff, and after much discussion, the manager allowed us not to pay for my wife's meal and contacted the hotel.
Regrettably, despite my wife not consuming anything and simply sitting with me, they insisted on charging her the full price for her presence. The employee suggested that my wife should have chosen something else to eat, but as a vegetarian, there were no suitable options available.
As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of customer satisfaction and would go above and beyond to rectify such a situation. However, this experience was the worst we've ever encountered. They seemed more interested in arguing with customers and making their visit unpleasant until they gave in and paid. Furthermore, the manager couldn't communicate in English, so another employee had to translate everything.
We have no intentions of returning to "Marché" in the future; it would be better to visit a local store like Coop and purchase a salad there instead.
I ordered both the steak and burger. The steak was passable, although it was cooked to medium doneness, the meat had an unusual frozen texture. On the other hand, the burger had some...
Read moreWe ordered a kids menu - according to the picture in comes with vegtables (that my kids like). When served it was just pommes and nuggets - no vegtables. When asked he just said - thats it. We dont have the vegtables! What a cheat - somthing wirh a picture and then dont serving it! Also he did not care when asking about it. Next: at the asian corner we ordere a menu. As it never came and others got first we asked about us. First they said ours is steaming (which is not possible, as we did not ordered something to steam). Then they forget when i told them its not ours, althought we waited 15min no one seemed to know our order. When asked to speak to the restaurant manager they just gave the only person able to speak english as no manager was there. Marche used to be good… but it seems they nowadays go for low unqualified staff and providing low quality service....
Read moreDuring my recent trip to Switzerland with my wife, we had the pleasure of dining at Marché, and it was an experience worth sharing. Located conveniently along our travels, Marché offered a delightful blend of Swiss cuisine and a cozy atmosphere that made our visit truly memorable. It has a warm and inviting environment. The restaurant’s rustic décor, featuring wooden accents and charming Swiss motifs, set the perfect backdrop. The service at Marché was exceptional. Our server welcomed us with a friendly smile. The quality of the food and the overall dining experience made it worthwhile price wise. We felt that the prices were reasonable for the freshness of the ingredients and the attention to detail...
