We had lunch here after a pretty drive from Vaduz, on our way to St. Galen.|We were looking forward to the fondue of Apenzel, and ordered the house fondue. A really large pot of cheese appeared at table, on the customary stand, accompanied by a basket of crusty bread cubes. We dug in, with the traditional forks with (our) traditional gusto! It was delicious, tangy, quite boozy with the wine, and very satisfying.|We had ordered two portions of pork schnitzel, but the chef (? Owner), was quite firm in gently pointing out that the portions would be too large, and suggested we order just one? Of course sanity prevailed, he was right and we shared this huge portion of succulent, crispy, tender pork, done beautifully, and served with fries for my wife and well cooked seasonal vegetables for myself.|A lovely meal, in a lovely setting in this family run restaurant. This place is right in the middle of town. A simple walk to eating locations, the Appenzell train system and walking trails. We used this place for three nights as our central location to the area. Much less crowded than Appenzell city or St. Gallen. It's a no frills place but very functional.||You know the old saying about everyone over there knowing English? Not so much.
