Restaurant Sonnegg — Restaurant in Glarus

The worst Greek restaurant l have ever been to and it’s not even due to the fact that it was not authentic. Pork meat on the skewers (souvlaki) was probably pre-cooked so that it takes less time to make them ready. As a result the meat was so dry and hard that it was difficult to stick it on the fork, not to mention to chew it. It was like eating cubes of wood. I also ordered grilled veggies that in over 50% consisted of half- cooked, still crunchy bell peppers (barely toasted over the flames doesn’t mean grilled!). The waitress asked (out of courtesy, no real interest) if the food is ok. When informed about the poor quality of all 3 meals she just turned to my father asking “but your food is ok, right?”. When my father replied “no, not really, it’s dry and chewy. If it wasn’t for tzatziki l wouldn’t be able to eat that”, she just turned her back and left without saying ANYTHING. There was absolutely no acknowledgment of the fact that the food is not edible, not to mention an apology and an offer of compensation in any form! I ate 1/3 of the portion only because l was hungry after the whole day of hiking and l wanted to give this dish a chance. In the end we were presented with a bill for 81 chf (no discount) while the food wasn’t worth half of that amount. From all the Greek restaurants that I have been to here in Switzerland, this one is by far the best. A friend of mine recommended it and last Sunday I drove over an hour from Zurich to go have dinner there. I tried the Melitzana and Zucchini balls as appetizers and they were both delicious. For the main course, I went with one of the house specialties, the gyros in Metaxa sauce, and I was blown away with how good it was. The family that runs the restaurant is also very friendly and polite. As a Greek, I highly recommend Taverna Thessaloniki to everyone that wants to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine in a beautiful and quite location. I wll definitely...

Extremely good experience..Firstly props for the decoration of the restaurant. The stuff was very kind and explained everything to us that we didn't know always with a smile. The food is also very good as expected from a greek restaurant.. I totally recommend "GYROS METAXA" yammy😍😍.. A family bussines that gives all their love and hard work to please the customer.. Recommended and will visit again soon....
