This year I visited this restaurant twice in April and in Mai 2019. Unfortunately I experienced a very poor service each time. A year ago it was a really nice place to eat, however it changed this year dramatically in a negative way. The most negative change is unfriendliness of the staff due to lack of basic manners and professional behaviour. This staff is trained to work in a Bavarian pub but not in a restaurant at the lake of Zurich. As far as food, it was good first time, but second time it was very salty, so you could hardly taste the ingredients. Moreover the ingredients seemed not to be fresh, e.g. cheap tomatoes from a can , More details on the service: long waiting time for food (Due to long waiting time we allready called another restaurant to organise the table. Since the food finally arrived, when we made a call, we did not leave) the waiters cannot remember which table ordered what food (we experianced it 3 times during 2 visists) if there are 4 people at the table only 3 people are served and the fourth person has to wait literally 45 minutes for the food ( it happened us twice, when the main dish was served and when the desert was served) the waiters do not serve drinks into a glass, but literally smash a bootle on the table, like if you were in an Irish pub. My colleague, who ordered a coke was shocked. waiters do not keep promise in terms of improving service, when you make a remark, on top they complain to the boss openly so when ypu accidently approach a bar area you can easily hear their complains. Moreover the boss does not react to the complains at all. For example we complained about the food beeing very salty ( both the soup as well as the main dish). The waiter informed about our compain the boss. The boss answered : " They consumed the whole dish, so it cannot be salty". Surely we did, but only because we were hungry due to long waiting time. when leaving a restaurant you make a comment about the poor service, the answer of the boss is more or less as follows: " the stuff is still in the process of training". In my opinion this staff cannot be trained at all. There is a HUGE GAP in a behaviour of a person working in a pub or in an imbiss compare to a restaurant, where a client pays for a good food and special treatment. The current staff in Seehaus Herliberg has manners of a staff working in an average pub or in October Fest. No training makes any difference ever. Read moreWe reserved a table for two people for Saturday evening, 6 pm. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. After seating, the waiter offered bread and olive oil right away. We ordered a San Bitter and an Ice Tea Seehaus, and a bottle of mineral water. The Spring Salad and Lobster Bisque together with the Homemade Linguine and Pink Roasted Barbarie Duck Breast were deliciously prepared and well-seasoned. The bill added up to approximately CHF 165.00.
Unfortunately, the restaurant does not live up in all aspects to its expectations. The staff tries hard and is friendly but not professional, which is acceptable. Another facet is somewhat bothersome. On the website, it is stated that parking is possible in front of the restaurant. However, the restaurant has only reserved a few parking slots for guests. To find a parking slot, we 'wasted' an additional 30 minutes. It would be helpful to add this information to the website and name alternative parking options.
The table reserved for us was in a corner next to a relatively 'basic' loudspeaker system. We asked the staff to lower the volume, but it turned out to be not possible. A re-seating was not an option since tables are assigned based on the receipt of the reservation. Unfortunately, two 'chain smocking' ladies were seated next to our table needed. We asked them to please refrain from smoking during our main course since we already accepted the smoke during the starters. Unfortunately, when we ended the main course, they immediately started their bad habit again. When we asked the staff why chain-smoking guests are welcomed in the dining area, we were told that the company policy is to accept smoking on the whole patio. To enjoy the dessert, we asked if a re-seating could be arranged. Ironically, a side table, equipped with an ashtray, outside the regular restaurant area was offered. We decided to forego the dessert.

Read moreNothing was amazing except the view, I was shocked by all the positive reviews. Service was rude and bad, my husband found a stretch wrap around one of the sushi pieces. The fish I had was dipped in coarse salt, I ate pieces of salt. When we arrived we wanted to change our table as it was too hot but we were told that all the other tables' guests were coming soon. In the end noone came, at 22:30 the restaurant was still almost fully empty. Rude service is one thing but lying is on another level, come on!
In response to the answer below: First of all, you moved us to a table next to ours which was still in the half closed area and super hot and was not at the main terrace. Second the waitress never mentioned that the idea was to give us more space because of the stroller but it was because all the other tables had already guests coming, which did not happen obviously. In addition, there was enough space for the stroller next to other tables as well. At 20:30, there were approx. 4-5 tables in total. So at the time of my booking, I imagine being the 4th-5th one at worst. Can you write here how many tables you have in total at the terrace? Did you have like 20...
